Reflection coefficient for superresonant scattering [PDF]
We investigate superresonant scattering of acoustic disturbances from a rotating acoustic black hole in the low frequency range. We derive an expression for the reflection coefficient, exhibiting its frequency dependence in this regime.

Theoretical and Experimental Studies of Acoustic Reflection of Bubbly Liquid in Multilayer Media
Bubbly liquids are widely present in the natural environment and industrial fields, such as seawater near the ocean bottom, the multiphase flow in petroleum reservoirs, and the blood with bubbles resulting in decompression sickness.

Imaginary Potential as a Counter of Delay Time for Wave Reflection from a 1D Random Potential [PDF]
We show that the delay time distribution for wave reflection from a one-dimensional random potential is related directly to that of the reflection coefficient, derived with an arbitrarily small but uniform imaginary part added to the random potential ...

Microwave Radar Sensing of Sea Waves: An Effective Reflection Coefficient
At the small incidence angles, the dominant backscattering mechanism for sea waves is the quasi-specular backscattering mechanism. The power of the reflected signal depends on the distribution function of the slopes of large-scale waves (in comparison ...

Active Control of the Reflection Coefficient of an Underwater Surface
From a strategic point of view, it is essential to protect underwater vehicles from being detected by opponents. Modern mono- or bistatic sonar systems are capable of precisely determining the position of a watercraft.

The phase shift of an ultrasonic pulse at an oil layer and determination of film thickness [PDF]
An ultrasonic pulse incident on a lubricating oil film in a machine element will be partially reflected and partially transmitted. The proportion of the wave amplitude reflected, termed the reflection coefficient, depends on the film thickness and the ...

Mixed-mode impedance and reflection coefficient of two-port devices [PDF]
From the point of view of mixed-mode scattering parameters, Smm, a two-port device can be excited using different driving conditions. Each condition leads to a particular set of input reflection and input impedance coefficient definitions that should be ...

Wave reflection in semiconductor nanostructures
: Based on nonlocal thermoelastic theory, this article studies the reflection of waves in nanometer semi-conductor media. Firstly, the governing equations are established based on coupled nonlocal elasticity theory, plasma diffusion equation, and moving ...

The origin of fine scale acoustic stratigraphy in deep-sea carbonates [PDF]
In this paper we investigate the origin and geologic significance of the closely spaced high-frequency subbottom acoustic reflectors characteristic of pelagic carbonates.
