Experimental Procedure for the Determination of the Number of Paramagnetic Centers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1961
The determination of the number of paramagnetic centers in a given crystal is usually performed by comparing the resonance signal of the unknown centers with that of a calibrated standard. The two most often used standards are CuSO4·5H2O and DPPH. In the

Negative reflection coefficients [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the Faraday Society, 1965
The reflection coefficient of porous Vycor glass towards aqueous solutions of polyethylene glycol, measured by ultrafiltration, has negative values at lower polymer concentrations. This is in qualitative agreement with the abnormally low and negative values of the apparent osmotic pressure found by Elias for such systems.

Mode-theory reflection coefficient [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1978
Given the physical parameters of the ocean bottom, a plane wave reflection coefficient Rpw can be defined, e.g., the Rayleigh reflection coefficient. Rpw, or the equivalent bottom loss, is normally used in ray-theory calculations. A reflection coefficient, per se, is not an explicit parameter in a normal mode formulation. [See H. P. Bucker, J.

Comparison between two ultrasonic methods in their ability to monitor the setting process of cement pastes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper presents the comparison between ultrasonic wave transmission (USWT) method and ultrasonic wave reflection (USWR) method in their ability to monitor the setting process of cement pastes.

Reflection coefficient of a dominant mode in a pentafurcated duct

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2017
This paper presents the diffraction of acoustic plane wave through a semi-infinite soft duct. The soft plates are enclosed symmetrically inside an infinite duct with hard boundary conditions.

Normality of a non-linear transformation of AR parameters: application to reflection and cepstrum coefficients [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Two sets of random vectors cannot both be Gaussian if they are nonlinearly related. Thus, Autoregressive (AR)parameters and reflection coefficient (resp. cepstrum coefficient) estimators cannot both be Gaussian for a finite number of samples.

Optimal design for the artificial‐noise‐aided IRS‐MIMO‐OFDM secure communications

open access: yesIET Communications, 2022
This paper discusses an artificial noise‐aided intelligent reflecting surface‐MIMO–OFDM system physical layer secure communication, in which two cases for the intelligent reflecting surface reflection coefficient models are considered separately, that is

Monitoring of lubricant film failure in a ball bearing using ultrasound [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A lubricant-film monitoring system for a conventional deep groove ball bearing (type 6016, shaft diameter 80 mm, ball diameter 12.7 mm) is described. A high-firequency (50 MHz) ultrasonic transducer is mounted on the static outer raceway of the bearing ...

Wave energy reflection by the Bragg breakwater composed of rectangular bars on the horizontal permeable seabed

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
Wave energy is a kind of renewable and clean energy. When waves meet the breakwaters, wave energy reflection will happen. In this paper, the modified mild slope equation for waves propagating over the permeable seabed is introduced, and the finite ...

A study of disordered systems with gain: Stochastic Amplification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A study of statistics of transmission and reflection from a random medium with stochastic amplification as opposed to coherent amplification is presented.
