Epitaxial Ferromagnetic Nanoislands of Cubic GdN in Hexagonal GaN
Periodic structures of GdN particles encapsulated in a single crystalline GaN matrix were prepared by plasma assisted molecular beam epitaxy. High resolution X-ray diffractometery shows that GdN islands, with rock salt structure are epitaxially oriented ...

In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

Study of orientation effect on nanoscale polarization in BaTiO3 thin films using piezoresponse force microscopy [PDF]
We have investigated the effect of texture on in-plane (IPP) and out- of plane (OPP) polarizations of pulsed-laser-deposited BaTiO3 thin films grown on Pt and La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 (LSCO) buffered Pt electrodes.

Copper sulfide based electrocatalysts for CO2 conversion are selective for production of formate as major product. Transformations under electrochemical conditions result in significant sulfur loss, and this study examines the nature of how persistent, residual sulfur (observed as surface SO42– species and S dissolved in the electrolyte) can sustain ...

By means of the state-of-the-art reactive oxide molecular beam epitaxy, we synthesized (001)- and (111)-orientated polar LaNiO3 thin films. In order to avoid the interfacial reconstructions induced by polar catastrophe, screening metallic Nb-doped SrTiO3

Comparison of Kikuchi Diffraction Geometries in Scanning Electron Microscope [PDF]
Recent advances in scanning electron microscope (SEM) based Kikuchi diffraction have demonstrated the important potential for reflection and transmission methods, like transmission Kikuchi diffraction (TKD) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Furthermore, with the advent of compact direct electron detectors (DED) it has been possible to place ...

Epitaxial Growth of (1 1 1)-Oriented Spinel CoCr$_2$O$_4$/Al$_2$O$_3$ Heterostructures [PDF]
High quality (1 1 1)-oriented CoCr$_2$O$_4$/Al$_2$O$_3$ heterostructures were synthesized on the sapphire (0 0 0 1) single crystal substrates in a layer-by-layer mode. The structural properties are demonstrated by $in$-$situ$ reflection high energy electron diffraction, atomic force microscopy, X-ray reflectivity and X-ray diffraction.

Sb-surfactant-mediated growth of Si/Si1–yCy superlattices by molecular-beam epitaxy [PDF]
Si/Si0.97C0.03 superlattices were grown on Si(001) substrates by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) to study the use of Sb as a surfactant during Si1–yCy growth.

A coordination polymer [Pb(tadt)]n prepared by a microwave‐assisted solvothermal method selectively reduces CO2 into formate under visible light with a high apparent quantum yield of ≈25% at 400 nm. It can function as a pre‐catalyst, along with conductive Ketjen Black, to form an active PbCO3/Pb3(CO3)2(OH)2 mixture that exhibits a high Faradaic ...

Epitaxial growth and characterization of Bi1−xSbx thin films on (0001) sapphire substrates
We report the molecular beam epitaxy of Bi1−xSbx thin films (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) on sapphire (0001) substrates using a thin (Bi,Sb)2Te3 buffer layer. The characterization of the films using reflection high energy diffraction, x-ray diffraction, atomic force ...
