An empirical study of reflection attacks using NetFlow data
Reflection attacks are one of the most intimidating threats organizations face. A reflection attack is a special type of distributed denial-of-service attack that amplifies the amount of malicious traffic by using reflectors and hides the identity of the

Reflections on the Soviet type of leadership
The author’s opinion comes down to the fact that the Soviet type of leadership had deep Russian roots and was a natural result of the development of the whole preceding history of the Russian intelligentsia. Political leadership established under Stalin in 1930s was a logical result of the Bolshevik movement.

Bio‐Inspired Synthesis of Macroporous Single Crystal Particles as Scattering Agents
A general strategy is presented that delivers unique, single‐crystal microparticles that combine submicron macroporosity and uniform particle shapes. A bioinspired approach is used to occlude three distinct types of additives – polystyrene microspheres, polymer vesicles and amino acids – within calcite single crystals, and subsequent thermal annealing ...

Disentangling Bulk and Surface Contributions to Charge and Discharge Fading in High‐Voltage LiCoO2
High‐voltage operation of LiCoO2 accelerates capacity fading through bulk and surface degradation. By introducing a LiTaO3 coating to selectively suppress surface degradation, bulk and surface contributions to charge and discharge fading are decoupled.

Coordinated Architectural and Chemical Reinforcement in the Crushing Mandible of a Soldier Termite
The crushing mandible of a soldier termite withstands substantial biting loads despite lacking mineral. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.
