Model simulations of a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier
SPIE Proceedings, 2006A reflective semiconductor optical amplifier is modeled using a rate equation for the inversion and an expression for the outgoing field in terms of the incoming field and the instantaneous inversion, for both the cases of linear and nonlinear gain, while assuming modulation speeds well below the round-trip frequency.

Efficient Dynamic Wideband Model for Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifier
Optical Fiber Communication Conference/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference 2013, 2013A computationally efficient, time-domain model for simulation of spatial-temporal distribution of photons and carriers in a bulk RSOA is presented. Saturation, noise, chirp and signal broadening are successfully predicted for NRZ and QPSK signals.

Multiwavelength conversion based on reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers
SPIE Proceedings, 2003In this contribution the routing capabilities of time/wavelength codes in Optical Code Division Multiple access are observed by means of the study of two devices for achieving the wavelength part code conversion. Multi-wavelength conversion will be achieved by using a Semiconductor Optical Amplifier and a Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifier. The

A reflective semiconductor optical amplifier based all-optical header separator
Optoelectronics Letters, 2010An all-optical header extraction scheme based on the reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) is presented, which can be used to process variable-length and bit-rate transparent packets. Through selecting the appropriate carrier-lifetime of the RSOA, the payload pulses obtain smaller gains than header pulses and are considered to be compressed.

Novel optical regenerator using semi-reflective semiconductor optical amplifier
Integrated Photonics Research and Applications/Nanophotonics for Information Systems, 2005We propose and theoretically verify optical regenerator using single semi-reflective semiconductor optical amplifier. Using simplified gain model, we explaine operational principle of proposed regenerator. Simulaton result shows proposed scheme acts as 2R regenerator.

Simple model for optical pulse propagation in a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier
Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices, 2010A simple time-domain model is presented that can predict optical pulse propagation in reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers (RSOAs). The RSOA saturation energy, effective lifetime and material gain coefficient parameters used in the model are determined using experimental measurements of the input and output pulse temporal profiles to the RSOA ...

We proposed a novel method suppressing the OBI noise in RSOA based WDM/SCM-PON. This is to use the SOA operated in gain saturation range, which acts as high pass filter. CNR increased up to 15 dB compared with that without using a SOA.
