Reduction of the Influence of Optical Interferometric Crosstalk Noise in a WDM-PON System with a Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifier: An Overview

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we give an overview of different approaches to reduce the influence of the interferometric crosstalk in a Passive Optical Network employing Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM-PON) and a Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifier-based ...

Deterministic Nucleation of Nanocrystal Superlattices on 2D Perovskites for Light‐Funneling Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work investigates the heterogeneous nucleation of CsPbBr3${\rm CsPbBr}_3$ nanocrystal superlattices along the faces of 2D PEA2PbBr4${\rm PEA}_2{\rm PbBr}_4$ layered perovskite microcrystals. Core–crown and core–shell heterostructure morphologies are obtained.

Intrinsically Stretchable Piezoelectric Nanocomposites for Artificial Ultrasonic Sensory Synapse

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Applying ultrasonic stimulations to a soft‐stretchable underwater piezoelectric sensor based on the soft‐stretchable nanocomposite from the thermal cross‐linking between the ─C─F group of P(VDF‐TrFE) and the ─NH2 group of (PEG‐diamine) with incorporating amine‐terminated BTO@APTES nanofillers on the soft PDMS substrates generated high piezoelectric ...

Origin of Dark Current Robustness in Photomultiplication Organic Photodetectors Enabled by Ionic Conjugated Electron‐Blocking Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conjugated polyelectrolyte electron‐blocking layers enable photomultiplication organic photodetectors with dark current robustness up to −10 V and external quantum efficiencies exceeding 3000%. Fowler–Nordheim tunneling, interfacial dipole, trap density of states, and noise analyses reveal how ionic conjugated polyelectrolytes suppress electron ...

All-optical sampling exploiting nonlinear polarization rotation in a single semiconductor optical amplifier

open access: yes, 2012
An all-optical sampling scheme using a single semiconductor optical amplifier is proposed for analog signal processing. The analog optical signal is sampled by the probe pulse train through the nonlinear polarization rotation arising in the semiconductor

Direct Growth of 2D Bilayers on Au(111) for Low‐Coercive Sliding Ferroelectricity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled CVD growth of stacking‐defined bilayer ReS2 on Au(111) enables parallel‐stacked bilayers with intrinsic sliding ferroelectricity, a strong piezoelectric response, and an ultralow coercive voltage. Atomic‐resolution imaging and in situ measurements further reveal the decisive role of clean interfaces in achieving low‐barrier ferroelectric ...

A Universal van der Waals Tunneling Injector for Monolayer CMOS

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A universal van der Waals injector unlocks polarity‐flexible tunneling contacts for monolayer CMOS. SnSe2, an intrinsically degenerate 2D semiconductor, establishes polarity‐specific band alignments with both WSe2 and MoS2 channels, enabling steep switching, high on/off ratios, and a unified route to low‐power 2D logic.

Bidirectional modeling of reflection-induced gain and noise dynamics in semiconductor optical amplifiers

open access: yesOptics Express
Reflections in semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), especially in heterogeneously integrated silicon photonics platforms where isolators are absent, can severely degrade performance through nonlinear gain dynamics and excess noise. Even weak reflections can induce backward-propagating fields that can coherently interfere with the forward ...
