Optical Channel Capacity Upgrade Based on Multiwavelength Conversion XGM Using Semiconductor Optical Amplifier for Access Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
This paper demonstrates a 10 Gb/s one‐to‐two‐wavelength conversion configuration based on cross‐gain modulation for optical access networks using a single TW‐SOA. The method is capable of converting a signal data of specific wavelength 1541 nm to certain wavelengths of CW’s laser 1554 nm and 1558 nm with 4 nm spacing.

Amplified spontaneous emission pulses for high‐power supercontinuum generation

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2016, Issue 3, Page 29-31, March 2016., 2016
The authors demonstrate an incoherent light source based on a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier as pump for high‐power supercontinuum generation for the first time. The obtained power level is about 160 mW and 20 dB spectral bandwidth is around 170 nm.

Mathematical Verification for Transmission Performance of Centralized Lightwave WDM‐RoF‐PON with Quintuple Services Integrated in Each Wavelength Channel

open access: yesAdvances in OptoElectronics, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Wavelength‐division‐multiplexing passive‐optical‐network (WDM‐PON) has been recognized as a promising solution of the “last mile” access as well as multibroadband data services access for end users, and WDM‐RoF‐PON, which employs radio‐over‐fiber (RoF) technique in WDM‐PON, is even a more attractive approach for future broadband fiber and wireless ...

LTE transmission exploiting pulse width modulation in fibre optic links [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Recently it has been demonstrated that pulse width modulation (PWM) can represent a viable solution for the analog optical fronthaul alternative to standard radio over fibre, which still avoids the bandwidth expansion of the digital fronthaul.
