Redox‐dependent binding and conformational equilibria govern the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this work, we reveal how different enzyme binding configurations influence the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in live cells using time‐resolved anisotropy imaging and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Mathematical modelling shows that the redox states of the NAD and NADP pools govern these configurations, shaping their fluorescence ...

Reflections [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, 2001
Ideally, editorials are written one to two months before publication in the Journal. It was my turn to write this one. I had planned to write the first draft the evening after my clinic on Tuesday, September 11. It didn′t get done that night or during the next week. Somehow, the topic that I had originally chosen just didn′t seem that important anymore

Diffuse neutron reflectivity and AFM study of interface morphology of an electro-deposited Ni/Cu film

open access: yes, 2008
We present a detailed study of the interface morphology of an electro-deposited (ED) Ni/Cu bilayer film by using off-specular (diffuse) neutron reflectivity technique and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The Ni/Cu bilayer has been electro-deposited on seed

The multidrug and toxin extrusion (MATE) transporter DTX51 antagonizes non‐cell‐autonomous HLS1–AMP1 signaling in a region‐specific manner

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Arabidopsis mutants hls1 hlh1 and amp1 lamp1 exhibit pleiotropic developmental phenotypes. Although the functions of the causative genes remain unclear, they act in the same genetic pathway and are thought to generate non‐cell‐autonomous signals.

Serial amplification of tau filaments using Alzheimer's brain homogenates and C322A or C322S recombinant tau

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We investigated the seeded assembly of 0N3R tau and two variants, C322A and C322S, designed to model the mutation landscape at residue 322, using Alzheimer's disease brain homogenates in a real‐time quaking‐induced conversion (RT‐QuIC) assay. The C322A variant formed filaments that partially resembled the paired helical filament (PHF) structure ...

Low-Temperature Relative Reflectivity Measurements of Reflective and Scintillating Foils used in Rare Event Searches

open access: yes, 2017
In this work we investigate the reflectivity of highly reflective multilayer polymer foils used in the CRESST experiment. The CRESST experiment searches directly for dark matter via operating scintillating CaWO$_4$ crystals as targets for elastic dark ...

Single cis‐elements in brassinosteroid‐induced upregulated genes are insufficient to recruit both redox states of the BIL1/BZR1 DNA‐binding domain

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phytohormone brassinosteroid‐induced gene regulation by the transcription factor BIL1/BZR1 involves redox‐dependent DNA‐binding alternation and interaction with the transcription factor PIF4. The reduced BIL1/BZR1 dimer binds preferred cis‐elements, while oxidation alters its oligomerization state and disrupts DNA‐binding ability.

Preliminary reflectivity analysis of severe convective events in in the proximity of Goczałkowice-Zdrój, Poland

open access: yesEnvironmental & Socio-economic Studies, 2019
At the beginning of 2018, the X-band radar in Goczałkowice-Zdrój (southern Poland) was launched. The scanning area corresponds with the scanning area of the POLRAD C-band radar system operated by the Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management ...
