Climate change effects on biomass and greenhouse gas emissions are ameliorated by nontoxic endophytes in southeastern USA transition zone tall fescue pastures

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Tall fescue produces more biomass and less carbon dioxide from the soil when it contains its beneficial fungal endophyte. Increased temperatures projected with climate change reduce fescue biomass, while altered rainfall frequency does not. Altering rainfall frequency and increasing temperatures can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from soil.

Effects of deficit irrigation and biostimulants on melon productivity and quality in semi‐arid conditions

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Water scarcity and soil salinization are major constraints to irrigated agriculture in semi‐arid regions, affecting crop productivity and fruit quality. Combining deficit irrigation with biostimulant application has emerged as a promising strategy to improve water use efficiency and plant stress tolerance.

Microwave Imaging Reflectometry Experiment in TPE-RX

open access: yes, 2008
Microwave imaging reflectometry (MIR) was developed in TPE-RX, one of the world’s largest reversed field pinch (RFP) devices. The system optics are made of aluminum mirrors, Teflon lenses, and Plexiglas plates in order to reduce size.
