Testing the reflexes

open access: yesBMJ, 2019
### What you need to know Eliciting the deep tendon reflexes is a vital component of medical assessments in general practice (where 9% of medical problems are believed to be neurological in origin1) and in hospital (where 10-20% of admissions have a primary neurological problem2).

Comparison of Modified Ashworth Scale and Hoffmann Reflex in Study of Spasticity [PDF]

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2010
"nSpasticity is one of the common complications in upper motor neuron lesions and without appropriate treatment it causes disturbances in movement pattern. Assessments of patients are effective in patient`s management.

Alterations in Signal Dynamics during Regulation of Airway Reflex Response

open access: yesCommunications, 2010
Regulatory airway mechanisms were studied on the basis of phrenic nerve activity which was compared during eupnea and aspiration reflex (AspR). Due to changing degrees of signal stationarity, discrete wavelet transformation enabling multiresolution ...

Reflexivity and Reflexive Predicates in Korean

open access: yesKorean Journal of Linguistics, 2013
Korean has sentences that contain no overt reflexives but show reflexivity of predicates. Based on Park’s (1985) observation, and following his terminology, we call predicates occurring in such sentences reflexive predicates. The paper is an attempt at providing an account of the nature of reflexive predicates mainly depending on the theory of ...

Reflexes in Immunity [PDF]

open access: yesCell, 2016
Simple reflex circuits provide crucial infrastructure for the neurological control of organ systems--even the immune system. Now, Gabanyi et al. reveal a reflex mechanism in gut activated by the presence of pathogens that forces macrophages into a tissue protective phenotype.

On J. Borwein's concept of sequentially reflexive Banach spaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1991
A Banach space $X$ is reflexive if the Mackey topology $\tau(X^*,X)$ on $X^*$ agrees with the norm topology on $X^*$. Borwein [B] calls a Banach space $X$ {\it sequentially reflexive\/} provided that every $\tau(X^*,X)$ convergent {\it sequence\/} in $X^*$ is norm convergent.

Operant Conditioning of a Spinal Reflex Can Improve Locomotion after Spinal Cord Injury in Humans

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 2013
Operant conditioning protocols can modify the activity of specific spinal cord pathways and can thereby affect behaviors that use these pathways. To explore the therapeutic application of these protocols, we studied the impact of down-conditioning the ...

The ROSAT-ESO Flux-Limited X-Ray (REFLEX) Galaxy Cluster Survey VI: Constraints on the cosmic matter density from the KL power spectrum

open access: yes, 2002
The Karhunen-Lo\'{e}ve (KL) eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the sample correlation matrix are used to analyse the spatial fluctuations of the REFLEX clusters of galaxies.

A Characterization of Subspaces and Quotients of Reflexive Banach Spaces with Unconditional Bases [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We prove that the dual or any quotient of a separable reflexive Banach space with the unconditional tree property has the unconditional tree property. Then we prove that a separable reflexive Banach space with the unconditional tree property embeds into a reflexive Banach space with an unconditional basis.
