From Stripes to Hexagons: Strain‐Induced 2D Pb Phases Confined Between Graphene and SiC

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Intercalating Pb beneath epitaxial graphene on SiC(0001) stabilizes distinct 2D phases at the interface. Using LEED, LEEM, SEM, and STM, the formation of characteristic stripe and hexagonal Pb monolayer structures is observed, and atomistic models are provided.

Adsorption Dynamics and Electric Double Layer Properties at Pt(100) Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Atomic‐scale structures at the Pt(100) interface are investigated using advanced experimental techniques and density functional theory. The coverage and arrangement of hydrogen and hydroxide evolve with potential (V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode, RHE), revealing the optimal interface coverage. Color legend: H: white, O: red.

Triphasic Inter‐Dimensional WS2/Magnetic Lithium Iron Oxide Nanocomposite for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study investigates the electromagnetic interference shielding performance of a multiphasic nanocomposite consisting of granular magnetic ferrite (α‐LiFe5O8/α‐LiFeO2) and conductive WS2 nanoflakes. It establishes a clear correlation between the shielding performance and relative fractions of the phases with distinct morphologies/dimensionalities ...

Unilateral Facial Palsyin Guillain–Barré Syndrome, A Hyperreflexic Variant Case

open access: yesEuropean Medical Journal Neurology, 2020
Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) is a form of rapidly progressive, acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculopathy. Acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculopathy is the most common variant of GBS, especially in the western hemisphere.

Visual suppression of the vestibulo-ocular reflex during space flight [PDF]

open access: yes
Visual suppression of the vestibulo-ocular reflex was studied in 16 subjects on 4 Space Shuttle missions. Eye movements were recorded by electro-oculography while subjects fixated a head mounted target during active sinusoidal head oscillation at 0.3 Hz.

Multifunctional Magnetic Soft Actuators for Aerospace Applications: Morphing Structures and Biomimetics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This paper investigates magnetic soft actuators for aerospace use. Various actuators with different magnetic particle fractions are created and tested to enhance their multifunctional performance, specifically displacement ability and mechanical strength, which significantly improved their mechanical strength by incorporating natural and synthetic ...
