A Different Obturator Nerve Block Approach Using Nerve Stimulation Device Under Fluoroscopy Guidance in the Transurethral Resection of Lateral Bladder Wall Tumors

open access: yesHaseki Tıp Bülteni, 2021
Aim:This study aims to define the efficacy and safety of a different obturator nerve block technique using fluoroscopy and nerve stimulation device during transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TUR-BT).Methods:Sixty patients with lateral bladder wall ...

Reflexives and reflexive constructions in Afrikaans

open access: yesSTELLENBOSCH PAPERS IN LINGUISTICS PLUS, 2015
This article provides a non-formalistic description of the various reflexive pronouns in Afrikaans. In addition to the traditional class of reflexive pronouns, it is shown that possessive pronouns can also be used reflexively. The facts about (obligatory) reflexivity involving these two types of pronoun are illustrated with reference to several types ...

Modulation of Stretch Reflexes of the Finger Flexors by Sensory Feedback from the Proximal Upper Limb Poststroke [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Neural coupling of proximal and distal upper limb segments may have functional implications in the recovery of hemiparesis after stroke. The goal of the present study was to investigate whether the stretch reflex response magnitude of spastic finger ...

Heatwave-Like Events During Development Are Sufficient to Impair Bumblebee Worker Responses to Sensory Stimuli

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2022
Heatwaves are increasingly common globally and are known to have detrimental impacts on animal morphology and behaviour. These impacts can be severe, especially if heatwaves occur during development, even on animals that can regulate the temperature of ...

Modulation of the initial light reflex during affective picture viewing.

open access: yesPsychophysiology, 2014
An initial reflexive constriction of the pupil to stimulation-the light reflex-is primarily modulated by brightness, but is attenuated when participants are under threat of shock (i.e., fear-inhibited light reflex). The present study assessed whether the

Reflexives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Abstract This article analyzes the factors determining the use of dedicated reflexives in natural language. It addresses the very diverse ways in which reflexivity is expressed and shows how to find the unity in this diversity. It takes as a starting point the fact that natural languages avoid expressions of the type Subject Verb ...

Reflex inhibition and reflex strength [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiological Psychology, 1980
In Experiment 1, the amplitude of the acoustic startle reflex in rats was shown to increase linearly with increases in the intensity of the eliciting stimulus (Se). A preliminary stimulus (Si), a light flash, inhibited the reflex. The amplitude of the reflex was reduced by an equal amount regardless of Se intensity.

Incidences of asymmetries for the palmar grasp reflex in neonates and hand preference in adults [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
It was hypothesized that adult handedness might be predicted from the neonatal grasp reflex. Grasp reflex was measured from right and left hand (10 trials for each hand) in neonates.

Motor Unit Discharge Patterns in Response to Focal Tendon Vibration of the Lower Limb in Cats and Humans

open access: yesFrontiers in Integrative Neuroscience, 2022
High-frequency vibration of the tendon provides potent activation of Ia afferents time-locked to the stimulation frequency and provides excitatory ionotropic activation of homonymous motor pools. In cats, the evoked motor unit discharge is constrained to
