Increased Transmission by Direct Vestibulo-ocular Reflex Pathways After Peripheral Vestibular Damage: a Preliminary Report

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1999
The vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) allows clear vision during head movements by generating compensatory eye movements. Its response is reduced following damage to the vestibular endorgan, but recovers over time. The VOR is mediated by both direct and indirect anatomical pathways; most direct pathways include only two central synapses, both located in ...

Aspects of segmental reflex after damage of the sciatic nerve in thyroxin-treated rats

Neurophysiology, 1993
In experiments on spinalized rats, in whom the sciatic nerve was severed three weeks before, and which were given thyroxin (100 µg/kg) for three days before the acute experiment, the amplitude of the reflex firing in the ventral horn (RFVH) of segment L5 was recorded when the dorsal horn was stimulated before and 20 min after the intraperitoneal ...

[Effect of damage to the substantia nigra on conditioned reflex activity in animals].

Zhurnal vysshei nervnoi deiatelnosti imeni I P Pavlova, 1982
Effects of the Substantia nigra injury on conditioned activities were studied on rats and cats by defensive and feeding methods, respectively. Bilateral injury of the Substantia nigra led to temporary disappearance of conditioned defensive and feeding motor reflexes, to prolongation of latency and duration of motor reaction.

Studies on the Aural Reflex. II. Reduction of Temporary Threshold Shift from Intermittent Noise by Reflex Activity; Implications for Damage-Risk Criteria

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1962
The temporary threshold shift (TTS) produced by intermittent noise was compared with that produced by steady noise. It was found that an on-fraction of 0.50 (30-sec bursts of noise alternating with 30 sec of quiet) resulted in a reduction of 50% in the TTS produced by 1200–2400- and 2400–4800-cps octave bands of noise.

[Effect of mexidol on status of conditioned reflex activity after traumatic brain damage].

Zhurnal vysshei nervnoi deiatelnosti imeni I P Pavlova, 2002
Even partial hippocampal lesions in rats resulted in a disturbance of time interval determination over the course of several months (1200-1500 presentations) other complex conditioned reactions being preserved. As distinct from the control animals, the long period of failure of time interval counting was absent in rats receiving Mexidol.
