A constant-reflux-ratio distilling head

Journal of Chemical Education, 1952
An improved constant-reflux-ratio distillation head has been designed that is especially suitable for analytical work involving the fractional distillation of mixtures that boil below 0 degrees C.

Vapor recompressed batch distillation: Optimizing reflux ratio at variable mode

Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2019
Abstract This work aims at optimizing a vapor recompressed batch distillation that runs at variable reflux mode by employing a multi-objective optimization (MOO) strategy. This involves the formulation of optimization problem using factorial analysis for identifying dominating variables followed by solving the optimization problem using the elitist ...

Unusual Control Structure for High Reflux Ratio Distillation Columns

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2009
Distillation control wisdom suggests that reflux flow rate should be used to control the reflux-drum level when the reflux ratio is large (>3). In the typical case where a single-end temperature control structure is used, reboiler heat input is used to control a tray temperature at an appropriate location in the column.

Optimization of the reflux ratio for methanol–water stage distillation column

Research on Chemical Intermediates, 2012
In this paper, the enthalpy-concentration method was applied in order to model a steady-state continuous methanol–water mixture distillation column. This work includes three steps; first, to develop a code in MATLAB v.7.6 to apply to the mathematical model of the column. The second step is to simulate the column using HYSIS v.3.2.

The Impact of Reflux Ratio on Rectification Column Theoretical Plate Number

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
In this paper, the computer-aided calculation is introduced to study the influences of the reflux ratio on the theoretical plate number of rectification column. It is found that the number of theoretical plates of rectification column is increasing as the decreasing of the reflux ratio, which is mainly caused by the increasing of the plate number in ...

A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Sex Ratio for Barrett's Esophagus, Erosive Reflux Disease, and Nonerosive Reflux Disease

American Journal of Epidemiology, 2005
Barrett's esophagus is associated with reflux disease and substantially increases the risk of esophageal adenocarcinoma. The authors undertook a systematic review and meta-analysis of the sex ratio for Barrett's esophagus, erosive reflux disease (ERD), and nonerosive reflux disease (non-ERD) to compare these results with the sex ratio for esophageal ...

Fractional distillation of multicomponent mixtures at variable reflux ratio

Physica, 1949
Abstract A method is given for making distillation calculations at variable reflux, if the volatilities in top and bottom section have a constant ratio. The ratio's in each section, may be different. The molal heat contents of the components in the liquid and vapor state are approximated by a hyperbola in the temperature range of the distillation ...

Optimizing reboiler duty and reflux ratio profiles of vapor recompressed batch distillation

Separation and Purification Technology, 2019
Abstract Batch distillation columns are more energy inefficient than their continuous analogous. These batch columns commonly operate at a fixed reboiler duty and even reflux ratio. To improve their energetic potential, an attempt is made to optimize the reboiler duty, and reflux ratio profiles of the conventional batch scheme and its vapor ...

Studies on Citronellal Extract Column Reflux Ratio and Theoretical Plate Number Design

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
In this paper, the batch rectification operation is adopted to keep distillate constituting constant high vacuum, in the operation process, the operation of variable reflux ratio is carries out. Through studying the relational system of reflux ratio, column top product composition, rectification time and theoretical plate number, when the concentration
