Determination of Mid-Infrared Refractive Indices of Superconducting Thin Films Using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this work, we present a technique to determine the mid-infrared refractive indices of thin superconducting films using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). In particular, we performed FTIR transmission and reflection measurements on 10-nm-thick NbN and 15-nm-thick MoSi films in the wavelength range of 2.5 to 25 $\mu$m, corresponding to ...

Self‐Organized Growth of Catalyst‐Free Single Crystal WnO3n‐2 (n = 25) Nanowire Bundles on Si (111) via Selective He+ Ion Irradiation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A novel and efficient method is explored to synthesize 1D single‐crystal sub‐stoichiometric WnO3n‐2 (n = 25) nanowire bundles. The approach utilizes selective low‐energy He+ ion irradiation (27 eV) on Mo‐Ni doped WOx surface, achieving efficient catalyst‐free self‐organized growth of high aspect ratio nanowires at the temperature of 700 °C.

A Systematic Study of Staphylococcus aureus Biofilm Formation on Thiol‐Ene Polymers: Toward the Development of Microfluidic Bacterial Biofilm Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work presents a systematic characterization of an emerging polymer platform, off‐stoichiometry thiol‐ene, in terms of its ability to support the formation, growth, and metabolic activity of Staphylococcus aureus biofilms. The findings indicate that thiol‐enes promote S.

Measuring the refractive index and thickness of multilayer samples by Fourier domain optical coherence tomography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Non-contact measurement of the refractive index and thickness of multilayer biological tissues is of great significance for biomedical applications and can greatly improve medical diagnosis and treatment. In this work, we introduce a theoretical method to simultaneously extract the above information using a Fourier domain optical coherence tomography ...

Advancement in Colloidal Metasurfaces: Approaches for Scalable Photonic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This perspective explores colloidal metasurfaces composed of plasmonic and emitting nanoparticles assembled by laser interference lithography and template‐assisted self‐assembly methods. Precise design strategies achieve directional emission, low‐threshold lasing, and tunable photonic bandgaps.

Antibiotic‐Mediated Plasmonic‐Mie Resonance for Biosensing Applications on a Novel Silicon Nanopillar Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Unique nanopillar metasurfaces are fabricated for the purpose of sensitive detection to refractive index changes in the presence of gold nanoparticles. The addition of these nanoparticles to the surface of the silicon nanopillars is facilitated via a novel antibiotic‐mediated linker system to promote localized surface plasmon effects resulting from Mie
