Bioinspired Strong and Tough Layered Bulk Composites via Mycelial Interface Anchoring Strategy

An interface anchoring strategy, which fixes the interface between the soft and hard phases to immobilize 2D materials, by leveraging the growth of biological living mycelium is proposed. This approach results in the formation of a lightweight and strong composite material (the LBCs) with a layered structure composed of soft and hard phases.

Mitigating Strain Localization via Stabilized Phase Boundaries for Strengthening Multi‐Principal Element Alloys

Strain localization along phase or grain boundaries leads to crack initiation typical of alloys. In multi‐principal element alloys, the enamel‐like microstructure is stabilized by phase boundaries. This facilitates trans‐phase migration of semi‐atomic surfaces and provides sufficient plastic space for dislocation‐mediated deformation.

In Situ Control of Reactive Mesogens Alignment During 3D Printing by Two‐Photon Lithography

Manipulating material properties at the microscale is crucial for 3D printing of smart microdevices. Two‐photon lithography directly patterns molecular alignment in liquid crystal resists. The polymerization reaction wavefront along the writing path induces an easy‐axis for the mesogenic moieties.

Polysilazane‐Coated Films Achieving Record‐High Moisture Barrier Performance with Sub‐10 Seconds Densification Using High‐Power VUV Irradiation

This research reveals that under high‐intensity VUV light, photo‐densification reactions of PHPS exhibit multiphoton mechanism. This enables the fabrication of SiNX‐based barrier films reaching record high WVTR of 1.6 × 10−5 g m−2 day−1 at 309 mW cm−2 for 6 J cm−2.
