Prevalence and Burden of Refractive Errors at National and Sub-national Levels in Iran
Purpose: To estimate the prevalence, burden of refractive errors and their associated trend from 1990 to 2018 and geographic inequalities in Iran. Methods: Data regarding the epidemiology of refractive errors was extracted from three different sources ...

Deep learning for predicting refractive error from retinal fundus images [PDF]
Refractive error, one of the leading cause of visual impairment, can be corrected by simple interventions like prescribing eyeglasses. We trained a deep learning algorithm to predict refractive error from the fundus photographs from participants in the UK Biobank cohort, which were 45 degree field of view images and the AREDS clinical trial, which ...

Analytic evaluation of diffuse fluence error in multi-layer scattering media with discontinuous refractive index [PDF]
A simple analytic method of estimating the error involved in using an approximate boundary condition for diffuse radiation in two adjoining scattering media with differing refractive index is presented. The method is based on asymptotic planar fluences and enables the relative error to be readily evaluated without recourse to Monte Carlo simulation ...

This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Precise Measurement of Refractive Indices in Thin Film Heterostructures [PDF]
We present a robust, precise, and accurate method to simultaneously measure the refractive indices of two transparent materials within an interference coating. This is achieved by measuring both a photometrically accurate transmittance spectrum and the as-grown individual layer thicknesses of a thin-film multilayer structure.

Abstract Purpose The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the impact of bone relative electron density (rED) assignment on radiotherapy planning for the abdominal region. Methods Twenty patients who received abdominal radiotherapy using MR‐Linac and underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) simulation were analyzed.
