Refractive cataract surgery

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 1998
Cataract surgery is the most commonly performed refractive procedure in the world today. Improvements in the calculation of intraocular lens power and design have allowed complete spherical correction of preexisting refractive error with intraocular lens implantation.

Cataract surgery after refractive surgery

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2010
To review recent contributions addressing the challenge of intraocular lens (IOL) calculation in patients undergoing cataract extraction following corneal refractive surgery.Although several articles have provided excellent summaries of IOL selection in patients wherein prerefractive surgery data are available, numerous authors have recently described ...

Hyperopic refractive surgery

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2001
Although the first attempts at hyperopia correction were made more than 100 years ago, it is only in the past several years that the success of hyperopic refractive surgery has begun to approach the efficacy of myopia surgery. Corneal surgery for the correction of hyperopia includes older lamellar techniques such as automated lamellar keratoplasty and ...

Refractive error in cataract surgery after previous refractive surgery

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2000
Bilateral cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) implantation was performed in a patient after previous photorefractive keratectomy, radial keratotomy (RK) combined with astigmatic keratotomy, and retreatment of RK. Significant hyperopic error was observed after cataract surgery, and the IOLs were eventually exchanged in both

Refractive surgery

2016
In a perfect optical system, a point source of light is focused onto a single point on the image plane; in the eye, light is focused on the retina. Optical aberrations are caused by imaging system imperfections which cause deviations in the transmission of light, preventing the convergence of light to a single point of focus.
