This is an age of prevention rather than of cure. The greatest efforts are being made to cure disease before disease occurs. Can anything more distinctly exemplify the disinterestedness of the physician than his earnest and unremitting efforts towards prophylactic medicine?

Refraction in radioastronomy [PDF]
In the last few years there was no paper in the astronomical literature reporting on new measurements of radioastronomical refraction. But there are some important review papers on different aspects of this topic, e.g. on the ionosphere by M.M. Komesaroff (1960) and T.

Quality assessment of YUNYAO radio occultation data in the neutral atmosphere [PDF]
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) radio occultation (RO) data are an important component of numerical weather prediction (NWP) systems. To incorporate more GNSS-RO data into NWP systems, commercial RO data have become an excellent option. Tianjin

Understanding Radar Refractivity: Sources of Uncertainty
This study presents a 2-yr-long comparison of Weather Surveillance Radar-1988 Doppler (WSR-88D) refractivity retrievals with Oklahoma Mesonetwork (“Mesonet”) and sounding measurements and discusses some challenges to implementing radar refractivity ...

Refractivity and refractivity gradient estimation from radar phase data: a least squares based approach [PDF]
Tropospheric refractivity, related to temperature, pressure, and humidity, is an interesting parameter for weather analysis, prediction, and study of climate trends. It has been shown to be useful for the detection and forecast of convective events.

Objective The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögren's International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0–4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0–3) as predictors of DED signs (abnormal ocular ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
