Meridional refractometry is a process whereby the meridional power of the corrective lens is measured in three predetermined meridians of the eye and the final prescription calculated from these data. The calculation is based on equations derived from Laurance's approximation of the meridional power of a cylindrical lens.

Instant photographic refractometry in children
Acta Ophthalmologica, 1988Abstract. A simple photographic method for detection and measurement of refractive errors in children, using a specially designed camera and electronic flash unit and ‘instant’ (Polaroid) film, was tested on 64 children, aged 3 to 8 years, and compared with the results from retinoscopy. The refractive errors ranged from ‐6.5 to +6.5 D.

Interferometry and refractometry of snail amoebocytes
Experimental Cell Research, 1959Abstract Quantitative cytological data have been obtained for different regions of living snail amoebocytes in tissue culture using cell refractometry and interferometry. The modal solid concentration in the cytoplasm was found to be 13.5 ± 0.5 g per 100 ml as measured by immersion refractometry.

Liquid refractometry by the rainbow method
Applied Optics, 1998A new method for measuring the refractive index of liquid, proposed in a previous paper [Appl. Opt. 36, 5552-5556 (1997)], has been developed. The minimum deviation of a laser beam deflected by a liquid-filled cylindrical cell was calculated by use of geometric optics.
