Assessment of Brix refractometry to estimate immunoglobulin G concentration in beef cow colostrum

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2020
Background Brix refractometry can be used to assess colostral immunoglobulin G (IgG) concentration, but studies identifying Brix percentages to detect high‐ and low‐IgG colostrum are lacking for beef cows and interlaboratory agreement is unknown ...

Development of a Live‐Cell Imaging Assay to Elucidate Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Extracellular Vesicle Fusion with Target Cells

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
We present a novel live‐cell imaging assay for detection of extracellular vesicle (EV)‐binding, ‐uptake, and ‐fusion in time and space. Using EVs carrying the fusogen VSV‐G, we demonstrate real‐time imaging of EV‐fusion, quantification of fusion kinetics and efficiency, and subcellular localization of fusion events.

The Refractive Index of Human Milk Serum: Natural Variations and Dependency on Macronutrient Concentrations

open access: yesFoods
The refractive index (RI) of human milk serum (also known as whey, milk soluble fraction or milk plasma) depends on the individual molecular species dissolved in the serum and their concentrations.

Capillarity-driven (self-powered) one-dimensional photonic crystals for refractometry and (bio)sensing applications

open access: yes, 2014
In this work, we advance the state-of-the-art knowledge on photonic crystals by demonstrating the effective and reliable operation of vertical one-dimensional photonic crystals by capillarity, i.e.

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Diagnostic Accuracy of Serum Refractometry and Brix Refractometry for the Diagnosis of Inadequate Transfer of Passive Immunity in Calves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BACKGROUND: Transfer of passive immunity in calves can be assessed by direct measurement of immunoglobulin G (IgG) by methods such as radial immunodiffusion (RID) or turbidimetric immunoassay (TIA).

QuantumPascal Report A143 Gas modulated Fabry-Perot-cavity-based refractometry (GAMOR) — Guide to its basic features, performance, and implementation

open access: yes, 2022
Although Fabry-Perot-cavity (FPC) based refractometry has demonstrated an extraordinary potential for assessment of refractivity and pressure, such systems are often adversely affected by various type of disturbances (drifts, fluctuations, and noise ...

Application of Cascaded TFBG for Wavelength-Shift-Based SRI Measurement with Reduced Polarization Cross-Sensitivity

open access: yesSensors
The wavelength shift in TFBG cladding resonance is a practical parameter due to its independence from power fluctuations coming from the light source or fiber bends.
