Damage evaluation of two alumina refractory castables
Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2009Abstract The accumulation of damage by thermal treatment and its development under uniaxial loading–unloading cycles performed at room temperature has been evaluated for two alumina based refractory castables; an ultra low cement content bauxite material (Bau-ULCC) and a low cement content andalusite material (And-LCC).

Selection of binders for in situ spinel refractory castables
Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2009Abstract The expansive behavior of alumina–magnesia refractory castables is usually associated with in situ spinel formation. Nevertheless, when bonded with calcium aluminate cement (CAC), this class of materials can present additional expansion reactions due to CA 2 and CA 6 formation.

Effect of Al4SiC4 on the Al2O3SiCSiO2C refractory castables performance
Ceramics International, 2012Abstract Carbon-containing refractories are widely used in the steelmaking process due to their outstanding properties and, in order to improve their oxidation resistance, the so-called antioxidants have often been used. Al 4 SiC 4 is pointed out as a novel additive that presents suitable properties such as Al, but without its drawbacks.

Paper 14: Developments in Refractory Castables
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Conference Proceedings, 1965A short account, not intended for specialists, is presented of the constitution and general properties of refractory castable mixes. The basic factors affecting the performance of castable refractories are discussed and modern trends in the compounding of the mixes, and in the manufacture of the cement bond, are outlined. Attention is drawn to certain

Transient Properties of Refractory Castable with Hydraulic Binders
2014Refractory castables based on hydraulic binders have a widespread use in aluminium casthouses (furnaces, launders, etc.). Their selection is based on properties such as corrosion resistance to molten metal, mechanical behavior and insulation. Few studies concern the hydric exchanges between the refractory materials and the surrounding atmosphere, while
