Theoretical Analysis on the Leakage Characteristics of HFC-161/125/32 as an Alternative Refrigerant to HCFC-22

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2011
The effect factors that influence the leakage characteristics of HFC-161/125/32,a new alternative refrigerant for HCFC-22,were discussed.Corresponding leakage models were built and the mass ratio variations of each component under gas phase isothermal ...

A Modeling-Based Flammable Risk Treatment of Refrigerant Leakage from a Commercial R-290 Refrigeration Machine

open access: yesInventions
Because of serious concerns about global warming, manufacturers have started phasing out high global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants in commercial refrigeration equipment (e.g., R-134a). As a potential replacement, propane (R-290) is an environmentally friendly refrigerant for commercial refrigeration equipment because its GWP is only three ...

Antimicrobial bilayer starch film containing zein electrospun fibers encapsulating thyme essential oil for cherry tomato packaging

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of thyme essential oil (TEO) encapsulated in electrospun zein fibers for use in bilayer films as active packaging for cherry tomatoes. The antimicrobial activity of TEO and bilayer films with 20%, 40%, and 60% TEO was assessed with agar diffusion and microatmosphere assays.

Predicting Mesoscopic Larmor Frequency Shifts in Ex Vivo Porcine Optic Nerve

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Larmor frequency shifts in white matter (WM) vary with fiber orientation due to anisotropic microstructure. Since clinical voxels are significantly larger than these microscopic frequency variations, the measured signal represents a bulk average of local shifts.

Designing “Korean” Kimchi: Speculative Configuration of Distance and Commodity Value in the Chinese Kimchi Industry

open access: yesEconomic Anthropology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the Chinese kimchi industry, manufacturers employ product names, photographs, and logistical strategies to promote their kimchi's “Koreanness.” So, what makes their kimchi “Korean,” and how does its Koreanness formulate kimchi's commodity value?
