Lyophilized Synthetic Platelets: In Vitro Characterization and in Vivo Evaluation in Mouse Thrombocytopenia Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Platelet transfusions to treat bleeding complications use donor‐derived platelets stored at room‐temperature, that have a shelf‐life of only 5–7 days due to bacterial contamination risks. Cold‐stored and freeze‐dried platelets are being investigated for extending shelf‐life, but these still have the inherent challenge of donor‐dependency.

Exergy Analysis and Optimization of Combined Rankin Power and Ejector Refrigeration Cycle [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2010
In this paper, a new combined power and refrigeration cycle is proposed, which combines the Rankin power cycle and the Ejector refrigeration cycle. This combined cycle produces both power output and refrigeration output simultaneously.

Cold production from magnetic fields. Part II: Thermodynamic analysis

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2003
In magnetic refrigeration a magnetic material undergoes temperature changes or heat interchanges with the environment when it is placed in a strong magnetic field. In this paper, a conventional cycle for magnetic refrigeration is analyzed.

Giant Conductivity Modulation and Chemical Neuromodulation via Proton‐Electron Coupling in a Hydrogen‐Bonded Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A “de‐doping” strategy positions mixed protonic–electronic conductors (MPECs) as adaptive neuromorphic platforms with dynamically tunable transport. Co‐BAND achieves giant conductivity modulation (>106) and chemically tunable synaptic plasticity. Analogous to biological neuromodulation, solvent vapors dynamically reprogram the device's learning rules ...

Thermodynamic Analysis of Combined Vapor Compression and Vapor Absorption Refrigeration System [PDF]

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2017
Two of the popular refrigeration cycles, VC (Vapor Compression), and VA (Vapor Absorption) are used extensively for refrigeration purposes. In this paper, a system is proposed that works using both cycles powered by an IC (Internal Combustion) engine ...

A Novel Approach Based on Acceptor–Donor–Acceptor Type Molecules Enhances the Therapeutic Efficacy and Safety of Photothermal Therapy for Osteosarcoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Jin et al. developed IEICO‐F nanoparticles with enhanced photothermal conversion efficiency via optimized push‐pull effect. Under 808 nm laser, these nanoparticles effectively generated heat to kill osteosarcoma cells and exhibited significant tumor suppression in vivo. Therefore, this novel A‐D‐A type molecule‐based photothermal therapy strategy holds

1D heat Exchanger Simulation to Capture the Cycling Transients of Domestic Refrigeration Appliances Working With R600a

open access: yes, 2012
To further increase the energy efficiency of domestic refrigeration systems, it is not sufficient anymore to optimize the single cycle components on their own. On the contrary, due to the strong system interactions, an integral consideration of the whole
