Receptor‐Free Identification of Toxic Gases Enabled by Hygroscopic Aqueous Salt Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Water as a gas sensor coating sounds impossible—until it stops evaporating. Here, hygroscopic salt solutions (LiCl, LiBr, H3PO4) form non‐drying aqueous films on CNT chemiresistors under ambient air. Gases partition into these liquid layers, sometimes transforming into water, and generate salt‐specific resistance fingerprints across a four‐channel ...

Dual antibacterial functional regenerated cellulose fibers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, 2017
ABSTRACTN‐[3‐(dimethylamino)propyl]methacrylamide monomer was used to impart dual antibacterial functionality to regenerated cellulose fibers. In this regard, the monomer was grafted onto the surfaces by a “grafting from” technique, then the tertiary amine groups were quaternized and the acyclic amide groups were halogenated.

The effect of NOM characteristics and membrane type on microfiltration performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Efforts to understand and predict the role of different organic fractions in the fouling of low-pressure membranes are presented. Preliminary experiments with an experimental apparatus that incorporates automatic backwashing and filtration over several ...

Engineering Strategies for Stable and Long‐Life Alkaline Zinc‐Based Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Alkaline zinc‐based flow batteries face persistent challenges from unstable zinc deposition, including dendrite growth, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution, which severely limit cycling stability. Current research addresses these issues through coordinated electrode structuring, electrolyte regulation, and membrane design to control zinc ...

The Preparation of Cellulose/Collagen Composite Films using 1-Ethyl-3-Methylimidazolium Acetate as a Solvent

open access: yesBioResources, 2013
Cellulose/collagen composite films with weight ratios of 30/1 (Blend-1) and 10/1 (Blend-2) were prepared using 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate as a common solvent.

Manufacturing Of Robust Natural Fiber Preforms Utilizing Bacterial Cellulose as Binder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a novel method of manufacturing rigid and robust short natural fiber preforms using a papermaking process. Bacterial cellulose acts simultaneously as the binder for the loose fibers and provides rigidity to the fiber preforms.

Trichoderma reesei derived cellulase activity in three N,N-dimethylethanolammonium akylcarboxylate ionic liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The activity and denaturation extent of cellulase from Trichoderma reesei (E.C. # 3.2.1.4) was investigated in three representative N,N-dimethylethanolammonium akylcarboxylate ionic liquids.

A novel multifunctional biomedical material based on polyacrylonitrile:preparation and characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Wet spun microfibers have great potential in the design of multifunctional controlled release materials. Curcumin (Cur) and vitamin E acetate (Vit. E Ac) were used as a model drug system to evaluate the potential application of the drug-loaded microfiber
