A Gym for Cells—Direct Laser Writing of Magnetic Multilayered Micro Actuators for Mechanical Stimulation of Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Surface‐attached multilayer micromagnet systems are fabricated by two‐photon crosslinking. The pillar‐shaped micro actuators consist of a soft and flexible surface‐attached cell‐repellent hydrogel layer at the bottom, acting as a hinge and a cell‐adhesive hydrophobic polymer filled with magnetic nanoparticles.

Experimental investigation of fuel-cooled combustor: Cooling efficiency and coke formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Scramjet is an air-breathing engine designed to propel advanced aircrafts in the atmosphere, suitable, according to various studies, to thrust high-speed hypersonic flights (over Mach 5). The thermal protection of vehicles flying at hypersonic velocities

Bioorthogonal Engineering of Cellular Microenvironments Using Isonitrile Ligations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highly selective chemistries are required for fabrication and post‐cross–linking modification of cell‐encapsulating hydrogels used in tissue engineering applications. Isonitrile ligation reactions represent a promising class of bioorthogonal chemistries for engineering hydrogel‐based cellular microenvironments. Isonitrile‐based hydrogels are stable and

Experimental Research on a Regenerative Evaporative Cooling System

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2019
Regenerative evaporative cooling is one of the main forms of dew point evaporative cooling. Regenerative evaporative cooling can cool the air below the wet bulb temperature without changing the humidity of air.

Engineered Peptides‐Based Hybrid‐Nested Microneedle Effectively Treat Biofilm‐Infected Diabetic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid‐nested microneedle/cryogel scaffold (MQW‐CMg‐MOF) is designed for efficient biofilm removal and accelerated healing of diabetic wounds. The scaffold shows substantial biofilm removal in vitro and in a preclinical diabetic swine biofilm‐infected wound model compared to the control.

Stability of Markov regenerative switched linear systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for mean stability of switched linear systems having a Markov regenerative process as its switching signal. This class of switched linear systems, which we call Markov regenerative switched linear systems, contains Markov jump linear systems and semi-Markov jump linear systems as special cases.

A Survey of Hypersonic-Ramjet Concepts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1959
A brief discussion is presented of the major problem areas involved in the development of a hypersonic ramjet engine. Keeping the structural temperature to an acceptably low level is the severest problem expected.
