Abstract Since 2015, about 7.9 million Venezuelans left their country due to political turmoil, socio‐economic instability, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Twenty‐five taxa were collected during the surveys, while two more were noted from the literature and museum collections; five are new to Ecuador. DNA sequences for cytochrome c oxidase–subunit 1 were obtained for 27 operational taxonomic units with three morphologically indistinguishable cryptic or pseudo‐cryptic taxa were also revealed.
