AbstractCharacterizing scalar dispersion is a key concern in a wide variety of applications, including both steady-state and time-dependent studies of wastewater outfalls, salinity distribution in estuaries, and the spreading of pollutants from industrial spills. As the size of a scalar plume grows with respect to the size of the containing water body,

Transient Regimes of the Screw Dynamo
Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, 2020The screw dynamo is a critical phenomenon—a self-excitation that occurs only when the magnetic Reynolds number (Rm) reaches some threshold value. Temporal magnetic field growth is shown to occur at Rm slightly smaller than this critical value. The appearance of temporal growth is also limited from below by the second critical value of Rm.

Transient Ablation Regime in Circuit Breakers
Plasma Science and Technology, 2007Nozzle wall ablation caused by high temperature electric arcs is studied in the context of high voltage SF6 circuit breakers. The simplified ablation model used in litterature has been updated to take into account the unsteady state of ablation. Ablation rate and velocity are now calculated by a kinetic model using two layers of transition, between the

Transient regime in second harmonic generation
Optics Communications, 2013Abstract The time growth of the electromagnetic field at the fundamental and double frequencies is studied from the very onset of the second harmonic generation (SHG) process for a set of dipoles lacking a symmetry centre and exhibiting a nonresonant coupling with a classical electromagnetic field.

Transient anomalous diffusion regimes in reversible adsorbing systems
Physical Review E, 2017A solvable, minimal model of diffusion in the presence of a reversible adsorption site is investigated. We show that the diffusive particles are influenced by the adsorbing site on transient times when they have anomalous subdiffusive behavior. However, the particle dispersion law crosses over to the normal diffusive regime on asymptotically long times.

Analysis of rocket-engine transient regimes
Acta Astronautica, 1977Abstract Three rocket propulsion systems are reviewed with a view to help designers in their projects, emphasizing the points they have in common and also their differences. (i) Hydrazine decomposition engines: ignition and extinction are examined, as well as thrust modulation by injection rate variations. The unstable functioning domains are defined.
