Hormones and regional brain blood flow

Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, 1976
Acute effects of the hormones, estradiol-17beta and alphaMSH, and of neonatal pretreatment with alphaMSH on the flow of blood to regions of the brains of conscious adult rats have been determined with an indicator distribution technique. As previously reported, flows were reduced in most areas within 10 min after intravenous administration of alphaMSH;

Microsphere maps of regional blood flow and regional ventilation

Journal of Applied Physiology, 2007
Systematically mapped samples cut from lungs previously labeled with intravascular and aerosol microspheres can be used to create high-resolution maps of regional perfusion and regional ventilation. With multiple radioactive or fluorescent microsphere labels available, this methodology can compare regional flow responses to different interventions ...

The effect of barbiturates on regional blood flows

Canadian Journal of Anesthesia/Journal canadien d'anesthésie, 1969
The intravenous administration of sodium pentobarbital to dogs is associated with a decrease in cardiac contractile force and arterial blood pressure. The latter appears to be due to vasodilatation in major vascular beds, rather than primarily to cardiac depression. Indeed, in most animals cardiac output increases, presumably as a function of increased

The Determinants of Regional Myocardial Blood Flow

1977
It is presumed that a region of myocardium does not always have the same blood flow. The purpose of this communication is to examine those factors which are determinants for changing regional flow. We have divided the determinants into three types. Those affecting a regional variation in blood flow which has a random distribution and a cyclic character

Regional blood flow in the cat retina

Experimental Eye Research, 1976
Abstract Linear and relative volume flow rates in arterioles of different calibre in different parts of the retina were studied in 12 cat eyes using high-speed cine fluorescein angiographic technique. The flow rates were correlated with areas of supply which were measured on photographs of the Indian ink injected retinas.
