Confidence Regions Based on Edgeworth Expansion
Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2009We describe a procedure for constructing accurate confidence regions by first expanding the sampling distribution of parameter estimators in an Edgeworth series, then eliminating the beyond-normal terms by a simple polynomial transformation. We demonstrate this using the two-parameter Cauchy and Weibull distributions.

A Regional Epistemology with Possibilities for Expansion
Science in Context, 1996Philosophy, a discipline without equals, seeks to account for reality, if possible in its entirety. It can be practiced only through the analysis of manifestations as diverse as art, religion, anthropology, politics, etc.

Plasma expansion in the preshock region
Journal of Applied Physics, 2001The supersonic expansion of an underexpanding argon plasma from a high density arc source with small dimensions into a low-pressure vessel with large dimensions is studied by an extended one-dimensional nonlocal thermal equilibrium fluid model, called SPIRIT.

A regional approach to e-commerce global expansion
International Journal of Electronic Business, 2006This paper recommends a regional approach for e-commerce companies to expand into global markets. A regional approach is more appropriate over other approaches with respect to the e-commerce industry's critical success factors including overall economic development, infrastructure level, e-commerce related policies and cultural differences.

Point matching via affine region expansion
2014 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2014In this work, we present a novel scheme for accurate affine transformation estimation that enables locating large amount of point matches with high geometric precision and low rate of false matches. We show that this is achievable in low computational demand. Point matching is one of the most fundamental tasks in computer vision.

Plasma Expansion Waves In The Pre‐shock Region
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1999The object of this paper is the study of a cylinder symmetric plasma expansion from a high density source with small dimensions into a low pressure vessel with large dimensions. The gas dynamic theory of Prandtl-Meyer flows is used as a guide to get a better understanding of the flow behavior of the expanding plasma. In gas dynamics, the expansion from

Bit-depth expansion by contour region reconstruction
2009 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2009Color bit-depth is an important attribute to image quality. However, the precision in various image capture devices limits the color bit-depth and introduces loss in visual quality. Expanding the color bit-depth is an important image enhancement issue.

TERRITORIAL EXPANSION AND REGIONAL INTEGRATION
Revista Gênero e InterdisciplinaridadeMetropolitan regions are central instruments for territorial planning and inter-federative coordination in Brazil, acting as hubs for growth and innovation. This article analyzes the historical and spatial evolution of the South Maranhão Metropolitan Region (RMSM), investigating how its territorial expansion influences regional integration.

Detection of expansion regions in Portuguese bipolar families
American Journal of Medical Genetics, 2000We have studied 24 families with multiple affected members with bipolar disorder to test the hypothesis that in those families clinically showing genetic anticipation [Macedo et al., 1999] we would find large repeat expansions. The families meeting inclusion criteria had a minimum of two affected members over two generations and showed marked ...
