This study investigates bidirectional introgression between Chinese and European pig populations, revealing 3558 introgressed genomic segments and 30 structural variations. Analysis of the BMP2 region suggests its role in body size enhancement. By integrating ancient and modern genomes, the study highlights the impact of introgression on genetic ...

Paesaggio e territorio, il possibile contributo della geografia. Concetti e metodi
Geography can help knowing the territory-landscape nexus – a true “complex archive”(Lucio Gambi), a “historic document” made of “many stories at the same time” (Paola Sereno), “a sort of memoir recording and summarising the history of the territorial ...

Epidemic models with geography [PDF]
Most epidemic models are spatially aggregate and the index which is most used for planning and policy numbers, the r number, typically refers to a single system of interest. Even if r numbers are calculated for each of adjacent areas, regions or countries for example, there is no interaction between them.

Facet joint osteoarthritis (FJOA), prevalent in the elderly, involves Talin2 upregulation promoting ECM degradation while suppressing synthesis. Mechanical load stabilizes Talin2 via OTUB1‐mediated non‐canonical deubiquitination, driving CCL2 expression that recruits immune cells, exacerbating inflammatory joint degeneration.

Impact of geography on the importance of parameters in infectious disease models [PDF]
Agent-based models are widely used to predict infectious disease spread. For these predictions, one needs to understand how each input parameter affects the result. Here, some parameters may affect the sensitivities of others, requiring the analysis of higher order coefficients through e.g. Sobol sensitivity analysis.

Abstract Premise Approximately 14% of all fern species have physiologically active chlorophyllous spores that are much more short‐lived than the more common and dormant achlorophyllous spores. Most chlorophyllous‐spored species (70%) are epiphytes and account for almost 37% of all epiphytic ferns.
