Regional Modelling and Structural Stability [PDF]

open access: possibleEnvironment and Planning A: Economy and Space, 1979
This paper uses the concept of structural stability for dynamic systems to find out which flow patterns for goods, and hence which location patterns, are structurally stable, that is, qualitatively unaffected by perturbations caused by partial relocations of economic activity.

Uncertainties in Regional Oxidant Modelling - Experience with a Comprehensive Regional Model

1998
In recent years comprehensive models have been used as an increasingly important tool for the understanding of “source-receptor” relationships of various atmospheric pollutants and for developing and testing emission control strategies. However one must realize that each process included in a comprehensive model can potentially introduce uncertainties ...

Modeling the subthreshold region of OTFTs

2011 8th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control, 2011
This paper presents the expressions and procedure for precise and simple modeling of the subthreshold region of OTFTs. The total drain current in the OTFT is calculated as the sum of two components, one calculated in above threshold regime plus the one corresponding to the below threshold regime. The tanh function is used to sew both regions.

Regional Deposition: Deposition Models

Journal of Aerosol Medicine and Pulmonary Drug Delivery, 2020
Modeling particle deposition in the human lung requires information about the morphology of the lung in terms of simple geometric units, e.g., characterizing bronchial airways by straight cylindrical tubes. Five different regional deposition models are discussed in this section with respect to morphometric lung models and related mathematical modeling ...

A Regional and Multi-Regional Modeling Strategy

1993
The regional modeling strategy chosen can be critical to the rate of progress in the development and application of regional (and multi-regional) models. While specific issues that should be considered as part of a strategy, such as specification (Klein, 1969), the concept of accuracy (Jensen, 1980), various model structures (Bolton, 1985), and the ...

A Regional Production and Transportation Model

Management Science, 1959
A linear programming model is set forth for maximizing a vector of final demand deliveries under both regional production constraints and transportation network constraints. The model is essentially designed to study short-run effects, and hence no provision is made for the expansion of either industrial or transportation capacities.

Modelling Regional Growth: An Advanced MASST Model

Spatial Economic Analysis, 2012
Abstract This paper presents a new version of a forecasting regional growth model called MASST (MAcroeconomic, Sectoral, Social, Territorial model). This new version is specifically designed to take account of sectoral and social (intangible) effects on the growth of regions, and it is therefore able to produce scenarios for all European regions ...
