Association of Physical Activity, Perceived Physical Fitness, and Cognitive Performance in School‐Aged Children: A Cross‐Sectional Study From the Break4Brain Project

open access: yesMind, Brain, and Education, Volume 20, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Physical activity (PA) has been associated with cognitive performance in children, although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Objective: This study examined whether perceived physical fitness mediates the association between PA and cognitive outcomes, while exploring sex differences.

Multi‐Scale Characterization of PLA Composites With Natural‐Based Reinforcements: From Filament to 3D‐Printed Parts

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 13, Page 12271-12288, 10 July 2026.
Thermal, microstructural, and mechanical characterization of 3D‐printed PLA composite parts. ABSTRACT To address plastic waste and agricultural residue underutilization, this study evaluates the thermal (DSC and FTIR), microstructural (SEM), and mechanical behavior of polylactic acid (PLA) reinforced with flax fibers and olive pit particles, processed ...

Revealing the Transmission Hologram's Refractive Index Profile Stored in a Photohydrogel: A Structural Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 25, 3 July 2026.
A theoretical model is developed to visualize three‐dimensional refractive index profiles in transmission holographic gratings. In this work, it is applied to photopolymerizable hydrogels, enabling detailed analysis of the internal structure of recorded holograms and their evolution under different degradation conditions.

Batteries From Reused, Recycled, and Surplus Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 7, July 2026.
Batteries can become more circular by combining reuse, direct recycling, metallurgical recovery, and material sourcing from industrial surplus streams. This Review highlights how recycled and waste‐derived metals, carbons, polymers, electrolytes, and active materials can be reintegrated into current and emerging batteries, while emphasizing design ...
