Penalized flexible Bayesian quantile regression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Copyright © 2012 SciResThis article has been made available through the Brunel Open Access Publishing Fund. The selection of predictors plays a crucial role in building a multiple regression model. Indeed, the choice of a suitable subset of predictors can

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

A default prior for regression coefficients

open access: yes, 2018
When the sample size is not too small, M-estimators of regression coefficients are approximately normal and unbiased. This leads to the familiar frequentist inference in terms of normality-based confidence intervals and p-values.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

An Empirical Method for Estimating Global Solar Radiation over Egypt

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2008
Global solar radiation has been estimated on the basis of measurements of sunshine duration for different selected sites in Egypt; (Marsa-Matruh, Cairo, Aswan, Al-Kharga, Abu-Simble and Halaib-Shalatin).

Visual Recovery Reflects Cortical MeCP2 Sensitivity in Rett Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rett syndrome (RTT) is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with developmental regression affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Sensory disruptions contribute to the complex behavioral and cognitive difficulties and represent an important target for therapeutic interventions.

Coefficients Of Regression [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Educational Research, 1920
In the March and April numbers of the Journal of Educational Research there were published articles by the writer on shorter methods for computing the coefficient of correlation. The object of the present article is to describe a short method for computing the coefficients of regression and to comment briefly on the prac tical utility of that measure ...

Bayesian regression with spatiotemporal varying coefficients [PDF]

open access: yesBiometrical Journal, 2020
AbstractTo study the impact of climate variables on morbidity of some diseases in Mexico, we propose a spatiotemporal varying coefficients regression model. For that we introduce a new spatiotemporal‐dependent process prior, in a Bayesian context, with identically distributed normal marginal distributions and joint multivariate normal distribution.

The Impact of Tilburg Frailty on Poststroke Fatigue in First‐Ever Stroke Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study With Unified Measurement Tools and Improved Statistics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Poststroke fatigue (PSF) and frailty share substantial overlap in their manifestations, yet previous research has yielded conflicting results due to the use of heterogeneous frailty assessment tools. Objective To evaluate the independent impact of frailty on PSF using a unified measurement system (Tilburg Frailty Indicator, TFI ...
