Targeting ROCK2 to Restore Epileptic Synaptic Networks via Mitophagy Activation: Insights from Translational Imaging of SV2A In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A PET imaging and transcriptomics, this study identifies Rho‐associated protein kinase 2 (ROCK2) as a critical regulator of synaptic network dysfunction in temporal lobe epilepsy. Pharmacological ROCK2 inhibition restores synaptic density and enhances mitophagy, thereby reducing seizures and neuronal damage.

Political Parties and the Tax Level in the American States: A Regression Discontinuity Design [PDF]

open access: yes
With a regression discontinuity design I show that the partisan identity of the majority in the state House of Representatives has no causal effect on the tax level. This result goes against recent findings in the political economy literature.

Shear Conditioning Promotes Microvascular Endothelial Barrier Resilience in a Human BBB‐on‐a‐Chip Model of Systemic Inflammation Leading to Astrogliosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Physiological flow (0.5 Pa) conditioning promotes resilience of an iPSC‐derived blood–brain barrier endothelium to mild systemic inflammation. In contrast, high “cytokine storm” levels induce barrier breakdown, fibrinogen leakage, and astrocyte activation, reconstituting the two‐hit injury mechanism on‐a‐chip.

Evaluating the Effect of an Antidiscrimination Law Using a Regression-Discontinuity Design [PDF]

open access: yes
The regression discontinuity (RD) data design is a quasi-experimental design with the defining characteristic that the probability of receiving treatment changes discontinuously as a function of one or more individual characteristics.

Tumor‐Tissue Boundaries as Instructive Interfaces in Breast Cancer Cell Invasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor‐tissue boundaries reprogram metastatic breast cancer cells, enhancing invasiveness through an instructive, not permissive, mechanism. Using a 3D collagen I‐based tumor‐tissue interface model, single‐cell analysis, and simulations, this study shows that all cells can transmigrate without selective filtering, highlighting a targetable process in ...

Using Regression Discontinuity Design to Identify the Effect of Zoning [PDF]

open access: yes
We test the effect of minimum lot zoning on rural-to-urban land use conversion using Regression Discontinuity Design (RDD), a technique that exploits natural discontinuities in the data to identify causal effects.

A Dynamic DNA Nano‐Antioxidant Targeting Galectin‐3 Attenuates Liver Fibrosis via Reducing Macrophage Oxidative Stress

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a dynamic DNA nano‐antioxidant (DDN) for Galectin‐3 siRNA delivery, specifically targeting hepatic macrophages to suppress ROS‐driven fibrosis. DDN enhanced hepatic accumulation, restored NRF2 signaling, and attenuated oxidative stress, collagen deposition, and fibrotic progression in a CCl4‐induced cirrhosis model, demonstrating ...
