Using the age-based insurance eligibility criterion to estimate moral hazard in medical care consumption

open access: yesFinancial Theory and Practice, 2016
This paper uses fuzzy regression discontinuity design to estimate the moral hazard effect in health care consumption in the population of young adults.

Influence of college education on happiness: A quasi-experimental study based on higher education expansion in China

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2022
Previous studies have documented a positive association between college education and happiness. However, the endogeneity of college education attainment is rarely examined, and a more robust link between college education and happiness needs to be built.

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Defect Evolution and Mechanical Performance of Fused Filament Fabrication‐Manufactured 17‐4PH Stainless Steel Revealed by X‐Ray Computed Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography reveals how process‐induced defects evolve from green to sintered states in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)‐manufactured 17‐4PH stainless steel. Internal porosity, weakest cross‐sections, and fracture locations show strong correlation with tensile performance, demonstrating the potential of computed tomography (CT)‐based ...

Unintended consequences of healthcare reform in South Korea: evidence from a regression discontinuity in time design

open access: yesHealth Research Policy and Systems, 2023
Background To address concerns over the financial stability of South Korea’s National Health Insurance (NHI) programme, the government transitioned from an outpatient copayment system to a coinsurance system in 2007.

Regression Discontinuity Design with Many Thresholds [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2015
Numerous empirical studies employ regression discontinuity designs with multiple cutoffs and heterogeneous treatments. A common practice is to normalize all the cutoffs to zero and estimate one effect. This procedure identifies the average treatment effect (ATE) on the observed distribution of individuals local to existing cutoffs. However, researchers

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

A Versatile Microfluidic Extrusion‐Based Hydrogel Platform for Self‐Organization and Long‐Term Maintenance of Engineered 3D Lymphatic Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Microfluidic coaxial extrusion generates size‐controlled 3D lymphatic tubes from primary human dermal lymphatic endothelial cells in a defined four‐component matrix. These engineered vessels self‐organize into stable lymphatic endothelium, maintain selective macromolecular permeability for 30 days, and enable direct comparison with blood endothelial ...

Impact of Changes to Procedures on the Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Forms of Professional Activation in Poland

open access: yesEconomies, 2021
Active labour market policy is connected with the necessity to account for the funds allocated for it. The conducted analysis forms a part of research on the evaluation of the effects of changes introduced by legal regulations.
