Sources of the Incumbency (Dis)Advantage

open access: yesBrazilian Political Science Review, 2022
An emerging literature finds that legislators frequently suffer a negative incumbency advantage in developing countries but disagrees as to the sources of this anti-incumbent bias.

Application of Regression Discontinuity in Investigating the Effectiveness of Lidcombe Program on Decreasing the Severity of Stuttering in Primary School Children: A Single-Subject Research

open access: yesتحقیقات نظام سلامت, 2021
Background: In single-subject research, there is an autocorrelation between observations, that violates the assumption of observational independence. The regression discontinuity considers the correlation between observations over time and in different ...

Multiparameter Closed‐Loop Control to Advance Reliability of Aerosol Jet Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A multiparameter framework for closed‐loop control of aerosol jet printing is developed to improve process consistency over both short and long timescales. By creating a control architecture responsive to the dynamic behavior of the printing system, variability in functional electrical properties is significantly reduced over extended duration printing,

Numerical and Experimental Methods for Estimating the Propagation Loss in Microphotonic Waveguides

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Finite‐element finite‐difference time domain, eigenmode‐expansion, and volume‐current simulations are benchmarked against cut‐back, ring‐resonator, and OFDR measurements to quantify waveguide propagation loss in integrated photonic circuits. Scattering, absorption, leakage, and back‐reflection contributions are dissected; error sources are ranked; and ...

Evaluating the effectiveness of the HPV vaccination programme in England, using regression discontinuity design

open access: yesInternational Journal of Population Data Science
Objective and Approach In England, the National human papillomavirus (HPV) HPV Immunisation Programme was introduced for young girls in 2008. Whilst clinical trials have shown high vaccine effectiveness, real-world evidence is still accruing. Estimating

Alternatives to Randomized Control Trials: A Review of Three Quasi-experimental Designs for Causal Inference

open access: yesActualidades en Psicología, 2015
. The Randomized Control Trial (RCT) design is typically seen as the gold standard in psychological research. As it is not always possible to conform to RCT specifications, many studies are conducted in the quasi-experimental framework.

Fabrication of MAPbBr3@Ag Core–Shell Nanostructures with High Sensitivity for Surface‐Enhanced Raman Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This work prepared a MAPbBr3@Ag core‐shell structure surface‐enhanced raman scattering (SERS) substrate by combining in situ growth and magnetron sputtering methods. This approach naturally forms an Ag surface with nanostructures without the need for specific complex processing. This substrate exhibits excellent SERS performance.
