Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Large-scale two-phase estimation of wood production by poplar plantations exploiting Sentinel-2 data as auxiliary information

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2020
Growing demand for wood products, combined with efforts to conserve natural forests, have supported a steady increase in the global extent of planted forests.

Some one and two parameter estimators for the multicollinear gaussian linear regression model: simulations and applications [PDF]

open access: yesSurveys in Mathematics and its Applications, 2023
The ordinary least square estimator is inefficient when there exists multicollinearity among regressors in linear regression model. There are many methods available in literature to solve the multicollinearity problem. In this study, we consider some one

Importance Sampling and its Optimality for Stochastic Simulation Models

open access: yes, 2019
We consider the problem of estimating an expected outcome from a stochastic simulation model. Our goal is to develop a theoretical framework on importance sampling for such estimation. By investigating the variance of an importance sampling estimator, we

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Minimax Estimation for Linear Regressions [PDF]

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1958
When estimating the coefficients in a linear regression it is usually assumed that the covariances of the observations on the dependent variable are known up to multiplication by some common positive number, say $c$, which is unknown. If this number $c$ is known to be less than some number $k$, and if the set of possible distributions of the dependent ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Spline Estimator in Multi-Response Nonparametric Regression Model

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Dasar, 2010
In many applications two or more dependent variables are observed at several values of the independent variables, such as at time points. The statistical problems are to estimate functions that model their dependences on the independent variables, and to

Methods of sample adjustment. Improving the quality of survey results [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Română de Statistică, 2010
Statistical surveys, however well designed, often find that the resulting sample structure does not always reproduce the population structure accurately. In order to get more accurate estimators for the variables of interest, several methods of sample ...

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.
