Background Accurate measurements of aboveground biomass (AGB) are essential for understanding the planet’s carbon balance. The Atlantic Forest of the Serra do Mar in southeastern Brazil contains large areas of well-preserved remnants, characterized by ...

Climate change drives shifts in suitable habitats for Eurasian lynx and its prey (hare, roe deer) in Mohe, Daxing'anling Mountains. Under RCP scenarios, moderate warming (RCP4.5) promotes substantial habitat expansion, while high‐emission conditions (RCP8.5) lead to strong expansion in the 2050s but slower gains and partial contraction by the 2070s ...

Abstract Against the backdrop of renewable energy achieving full market integration, renewable energy forecasting deviations have become a critical bottleneck constraining the clearing efficiency of electricity spot markets, hindering the rational allocation of costs, and threatening the secure operation of the power system.

Structured machine learning modeling to support conservation of deep‐sea benthic biodiversity
Abstract Biodiversity monitoring programs need to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable predictions. To establish a predictive monitoring program for deep‐sea benthos of the Santos Basin, Brazil, we developed a two‐stage structured model that allowed comparison of biodiversity predictions obtained from environmental simulations (2M‐Sim).

Feature-free regression kriging
Spatial interpolation is a crucial task in geography. As perhaps the most widely used interpolation methods, geostatistical models -- such as Ordinary Kriging (OK) -- assume spatial stationarity, which makes it difficult to capture the nonstationary characteristics of geographic variables.

Abstract The long‐term and frequent sampling of groundwater monitoring networks is common practice for monitoring the concentrations of constituents of potential concern (CoPC) over space and time. Sampling can be a costly and time‐intensive process that also incurs health and safety risks. A redundancy‐based ranking of candidate sampling locations can

Area-to-point regression kriging for pan-sharpening
Pan-sharpening is a technique to combine the fine spatial resolution panchromatic (PAN) band with the coarse spatial resolution multispectral bands of the same satellite to create a fine spatial resolution multispectral image. In this paper, area-to-point regression kriging (ATPRK) is proposed for pan-sharpening.

On Spatial Point Processes With Composition‐Valued Marks
Summary Methods for marked spatial point processes with scalar marks have seen extensive development in recent years. While the impressive progress in data collection and storage capacities has yielded an immense increase in spatial point process data with highly challenging non‐scalar marks, methods for their analysis are not equally well developed ...

Full-field digital image correlation with Kriging regression [PDF]
A full-field Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method with integrated Kriging regression is presented in this article. The displacement field is formulated as a best linear unbiased model that includes the correlations between all the locations in the Region of Interest (RoI). A global error factor is employed to extend conventional Kriging interpolation

A Non‐Parametric Framework for Correlation Functions on Product Metric Spaces
Summary We propose a non‐parametric framework for analysing data defined over products of metric spaces, a versatile class encountered in various fields. This framework accommodates non‐stationarity and seasonality and is applicable to both local and global domains, such as the Earth's surface, as well as domains evolving over linear time or time ...
