Thermoelectric Properties of a Family of Benzodifuranone‐Based Conjugated Copolymers in Oriented Thin Films Doped Sequentially With NDMBI‐H

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Combining high polymer orientation of n‐type copolymers by temperature rubbing and sequential doping with N‐DMBI results in a strong improvement of electrical conductivity and thermoelectric power factors reaching up to 9.8 ± 1.6 S cm−1 and 8 ± 3 µW m−1.K2, respectively.

50 Years of Giese Reaction – a Personal View

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The Giese‐Reaction celebrates its 50. Birthday, it is a cyclic radical chain reaction centered around C,C‐bond formation in a three component synthesis. This minireview speaks about the birth of the name‐reaction, explains how the complete understanding of its reaction mechanism stimulates new methods in organic synthesis, and why it can proceed in ...

Conformal Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: A Cylindrical Geometry Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Cylindrical reconfigurable intelligent surfaces are explored for low‐complexity beam steering using one‐bit meta‐atoms. A multi‐level modeling approach, including optimization‐based synthesis, demonstrates that even minimal hardware can support directive scattering.

Learning From Loss After Risk: Dissociating Reward Pursuit and Reward Valuation in a Naturalistic Foraging Task

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2019
A fundamental feature of addiction is continued use despite high-cost losses. One possible driver of this feature is a dissociation between reward pursuit and reward valuation. To test for this dissociation, we employed a foraging paradigm with real-time

The Future of Hydrogen‐Powered Aviation: Technologies, Challenges, and a Strategic Roadmap for Sustainable Decarbonization

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Hydrogen‐powered aviation offers a transformative pathway to zero‐emission flight by eliminating in‐flight CO2 emissions. Key considerations include propulsion systems (fuel cells and hydrogen combustion), cryogenic storage and insulation challenges, infrastructure and cost barriers, and supply‐chain constraints.

How comparing decision outcomes affects subsequent decisions: The carry-over of a comparative mind-set

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2011
In the current paper we investigate how feedback over decision outcomes may affect future decisions. In an experimental study we demonstrate that if people receive feedback over the outcomes they obtained (“factual outcomes”) and the outcomes they would ...

Band‐Edge Engineering of BiFeO3–KTaO3 Solid Solutions toward Efficient Solar Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
This study reports BiFeO3–KTaO3 solid solutions as efficient photocathodes for solar hydrogen production. Combining experiments with density functional theory, the authors demonstrate composition‐driven band‐edge tuning, achieving high photocurrent density and hydrogen generation rates.

Combinatorial Nb‐Doped TiO2 Wafers: Phase‐Defect Coengineering for Efficient and Reusable Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Combinatorial Nb‐doped TiO2 wafers with a lateral dopant gradient enable rapid mapping of how phase composition and defects influence photocatalytic activity. Optimized Nb content generates mixed anatase–rutile phases together with beneficial Ti3+ and oxygen vacancy defects, boosting dye‐degradation efficiency fivefold.

Positive Interaction of Social Comparison and Personal Responsibility for Outcomes

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2012
We formulate and test a model that allows a sharp separation between social versus private and personal responsibility versus chance in the evaluation of outcomes.

Delay and Cooperation in Nonstochastic Bandits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We study networks of communicating learning agents that cooperate to solve a common nonstochastic bandit problem. Agents use an underlying communication network to get messages about actions selected by other agents, and drop messages that took more than
