A chromosome‐level genome assembly enables the identification of the follicule stimulating hormone receptor as the master sex‐determining gene in the flatfish Solea senegalensis

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 23, Issue 4, Page 886-904, May 2023., 2023
Abstract Sex determination (SD) shows huge variation among fish and a high evolutionary rate, as illustrated by the Pleuronectiformes (flatfishes). This order is characterized by its adaptation to demersal life, compact genomes and diversity of SD mechanisms.

RNA viruses alter house dust mite physiology and allergen production with no detected consequences for allergenicity

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 32, Issue 2, Page 173-186, April 2023., 2023
The infection of the European house dust mite with RNA viruses affects the expression of allergen‐related, immunity and stress‐response genes. Major allergen Der p 23 is upregulated (with ELISA titres increasing in culture extracts), whilst serine protease allergens Der p 3, 6 and 9 are downregulated (trypsin and chymotrypsin activities reduced).

Differential expression of miR‐1249‐3p and miR‐34b‐5p between vulnerable and resilient phenotypes of cocaine addiction

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 27, Issue 5, September 2022., 2022
Repeated cocaine use induces neuroadaptations that underlie cocaine addiction as shown in the pathway enriched in mmu‐miR‐34b‐5p target genes. In this pathway, 6 out of 48 genes are mmu‐miR‐34b‐5p predicted or validated target genes. Abstract Cocaine addiction is a complex brain disorder involving long‐term alterations that lead to loss of control over

First‐Principle Calculations to Investigate Structural, Electronic, Elastic, Mechanical, and Optical Properties of K2CuX (X=As, Sb) Ternary Compounds

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Efficient materials with good optoelectronic properties are required for the good performance of photovoltaic devices. In this work, we present findings of a theoretical investigation of the structural, electronic, elastic, mechanical, and optical properties of K2CuX (X = As, Sb) ternary compounds. The computations were carried out by using the density

RNA viruses in the house dust mite Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, detection in environmental samples and in commercial allergen extracts used for in vivo diagnosis

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 76, Issue 12, Page 3743-3754, December 2021., 2021
Seven RNA viruses were identified in the transcriptome of D. pteronyssinus, being picorna‐like viruses the most abundant. Viral particles are found in epithelial cells of the digestive system, and in fecal pellets from which they can be horizontally transmitted to other virus‐free mites. Viral RNA was detected by RT‐PCR on house dust samples, reference

Genome‐wide postnatal changes in immunity following fetal inflammatory response

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 288, Issue 7, Page 2311-2331, April 2021., 2021
The exposure to a fetal inflammatory response (FIR) is often followed by a postnatal systemic inflammation, increasing the risk of perinatal brain injury. We profiled the transcriptome and proteome in neonatal dried blood spots from extremely preterm newborns (< 28 weeks of gestation), affected and unaffected by FIR.
