Compression of Dense and Regular Point Clouds [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, 2006
Abstract We present a simple technique for single‐rate compression of point clouds sampled from a surface, based on a spanning tree of the points. Unlike previous methods, we predict future vertices using both a linear predictor, which uses the previous edge as a predictor for the current edge, and lateral predictors that rotate the previous edge 90 ...

Hidden regular variation for point processes and the single/multiple large point heuristic

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Probability, 2022
International audienceWe consider regular variation for marked point processes with independent heavy-tailed marks and prove a single large point heuristic: the limit measure is concentrated on the cone of point measures with one single point.

Point regular groups of automorphisms of generalised quadrangles

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory - Series A, 2011
We study the point regular groups of automorphisms of some of the known generalised quadrangles. In particular we determine all point regular groups of automorphisms of the thick classical generalised quadrangles.

Weierstrass Points and Regular Maps

Geometriae Dedicata, 1997
A map \({\mathcal M}\) is an embedding of a graph \({\mathcal G}\) in a surface \(S\), such that the components of the complement of \({\mathcal M}\) are each homeomorphic to an open disk. \textit{G. A. Jones} and \textit{D. Singerman} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser.

Ideals and Clots in Pointed Regular Categories

Applied Categorical Structures, 2008
This paper adds to the earlier paper [\textit{G. Janelidze, L. Márki} and \textit{A. Ursini}, J. Algebra 307, 191--208 (2007; Zbl 1110.18006)] by the same authors, clarifying the relationship between the concepts of ideals, clots and normal subobjects, under a categorical approach.

Regular point processes and their detection

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1972
A class of point processes that possess intensity functions are studied. The processes of this class, which seem to include most point processes of practical interest, are called regular point processes (RPP's). Expressions for the evolution of these processes and especially for their joint occurrence statistics are derived.

Half-regular and regular points in compact polygons

Geometriae Dedicata, 1994
The authors consider compact generalized \(n\)-gons whose point rows and line pencils are manifolds. \textit{N. Knarr} [Forum Math. 2, No. 6, 603-512 (1990; Zbl 0711.51002)] showed that in this case there are positive integers \(p\) and \(q\) such that every point row is homeomorphic to the Euclidean \(p\)-sphere \(S_ p\) and every line pencil is ...
