Abstract We give the first examples of étale (non‐Hausdorff) groupoids G$\mathcal {G}$ whose C∗$C^*$‐algebras contain singular elements that cannot be approximated by singular elements in Cc(G)$\mathcal {C}_c(\mathcal {G})$.
