Travelling Wave Solutions of the General Regularized Long Wave Equation

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems, 2021
This paper studies the model of the general regularized long wave (GRLW) equation. The main contribution of this paper is to find that GRLW equation has extra kink and anti-kink wave solutions when $p = 2n + 1$, while it's not for $p = 2n$. The authors give the phase diagram and obtained possible exact explicit parametric representation of the ...

Wave Height and Planing Hull Wave Slams in Regular Waves

SNAME Chesapeake Power Boat Symposium, 2016
High-speed planing boats are subject to repeated slamming impacts. These impacts can cause structural damage and discomfort, or even injury, to passengers. The motivation for this research is to determine a relationship between wave height and vertical accelerations of planing crafts.

The Regularity of Solutions of Nonlinear Wave Equations

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1989
The equation studied is \(u_{tt}+(-\Delta)^ mu+au+f(u)=g\) where the nonlinear term depends on u and its derivatives and satisfies various conditions.

On the Regularity Properties of the Wave Equation

1994
The research we want to report about has been motivated by the study of the regularity properties of solutions to the equations of “wave maps3 ” defined from the Minkowski space-time M n+1 to a Riemannian manifold N. Our interest in these equations is due to the fact that they are the simplest system of wave equations, derived from a relativistic ...

Regular wave conditions in a directional wave basin

2010
This thesis represents a small step toward improved generation of realistic sea states in laboratory wave basins. Experiments were conducted in an offshore directional wave basin equipped with a segmented wave generator. Regular waves were generated for several periods and propagation directions, and the resulting wave elevations were measured ...

Wave Load Acting on Advanced Spar in Regular Waves

Volume 6: Ocean Space Utilization, 2018
Offshore wind turbines have been investigated and developed as one of the renewable energies. In Japan, the research and development of floating type offshore wind turbines have been carried out because the water around the country is too deep to settle the bottom mounted type. In this paper, we investigate the effects of the diameter of

On the regular wave kinematics

1998
The present paper investigates some models able to fit a regular wave field, acting a distinction among theoretical methods, derived from Stokes theory, and engineering approximations. The validity of the different methods was tested by using experimental results.

Estimation of incident and reflected waves in regular wave experiments

Ocean Engineering, 1995
Abstract This paper presents a laboratory technique for measurement of reflected waves by a submerged horizontal plate. A simple method is proposed to decompose the composite wave record obtained from the wave reflection experiments in the wave flume.

On regular reflection of detonation waves

Fluid Dynamics, 1983
The boundaries of regular reflection of detonation waves by a rigid wall are calculated. It is assumed that detonation is initiated at the point of reflection when a shock wave is incident on the wall at a finite angle in a gas fuel mixture, the detonation propagating instantaneously along the reflected front.

Measurement of Regular Wave Reflection

Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 1991
The present paper describes the measurement of regular wave reflection. Three methods involving the use of two and three fixed probes are described and developed so as to provide explicit solutions for the incident wave height, reflection coefficient, and the phase of the reflected wave train.
