Measurement of Regular Wave Reflection

Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 1991
The present paper describes the measurement of regular wave reflection. Three methods involving the use of two and three fixed probes are described and developed so as to provide explicit solutions for the incident wave height, reflection coefficient, and the phase of the reflected wave train.

Global regularity for water waves

2016
We will begin by introducing the water waves equations which are a system of evolution equations modeling the motion of waves (like those in the surface of the ocean), and discuss some of the works done in recent years on the question of long-time regularity.

Regular wave conditions in a directional wave basin

2010
This thesis represents a small step toward improved generation of realistic sea states in laboratory wave basins. Experiments were conducted in an offshore directional wave basin equipped with a segmented wave generator. Regular waves were generated for several periods and propagation directions, and the resulting wave elevations were measured ...

On the regular wave kinematics

1998
The present paper investigates some models able to fit a regular wave field, acting a distinction among theoretical methods, derived from Stokes theory, and engineering approximations. The validity of the different methods was tested by using experimental results.

Stochastic Waves on Regular Lattices

2014
In order to study the phenomenon of noise-induced bistability we have expanded the master equation with respect to the cell volume, and obtained an approximated stochastic differential equation which was more amenable to analytical manipulations. As already remarked, the technique we have used made it possible to capture the multiplicative nature of ...

Solitary wave solutions for the regularized long-wave equation

Physics of Wave Phenomena, 2012
The regularized long-wave equation has been solved numerically using the collocation method based on the Adams-Moulton method for the time integration and quintic B-spline functions for the space integration. The method is tested on the problems of propagation of a solitary wave and interaction of two solitary waves.

Fluidized Mud-Wave Interaction under Regular and Irregular Waves

Journal of Coastal Research, 2009
Abstract Although a variety of cross-shore wave transformation models have been developed during recent decades, there is a lack of suitable models that can be applied to soft mud beds offshore. To address this issue, an integrated cross-shore model is introduced.

Wave Equations for Regular and Irregular Water Wave Propagation

Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 2008
The Boussinesq equations are often used to simulate irregular nonlinear wave propagation in finite water depth. The mild slope equation is also frequently used for modeling regular linear wave propagation as there is no water depth restriction on it. In this paper a different approach is presented to derive a new set of equations.

On regular reflection of detonation waves

Fluid Dynamics, 1983
The boundaries of regular reflection of detonation waves by a rigid wall are calculated. It is assumed that detonation is initiated at the point of reflection when a shock wave is incident on the wall at a finite angle in a gas fuel mixture, the detonation propagating instantaneously along the reflected front.
