Wave runup on a surging vertical cylinder in regular waves
Applied Ocean Research, 2017Abstract The wave runup caused by a vertical cylinder surging in regular waves is studied both experimentally and numerically. The so-called DualSPHysics Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) code is used for the 3-D numerical modelling. A wide range of cylinder sizes and wave conditions is investigated with results comparing favourably between the ...

On regular reflection of detonation waves
Fluid Dynamics, 1983The boundaries of regular reflection of detonation waves by a rigid wall are calculated. It is assumed that detonation is initiated at the point of reflection when a shock wave is incident on the wall at a finite angle in a gas fuel mixture, the detonation propagating instantaneously along the reflected front.

Global regularity for water waves
2016We will begin by introducing the water waves equations which are a system of evolution equations modeling the motion of waves (like those in the surface of the ocean), and discuss some of the works done in recent years on the question of long-time regularity.

Measurement of Regular Wave Reflection
Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 1991The present paper describes the measurement of regular wave reflection. Three methods involving the use of two and three fixed probes are described and developed so as to provide explicit solutions for the incident wave height, reflection coefficient, and the phase of the reflected wave train.

Stochastic Waves on Regular Lattices
2014In order to study the phenomenon of noise-induced bistability we have expanded the master equation with respect to the cell volume, and obtained an approximated stochastic differential equation which was more amenable to analytical manipulations. As already remarked, the technique we have used made it possible to capture the multiplicative nature of ...
