Irregular sleep/wake patterns are associated with poorer academic performance and delayed circadian and sleep/wake timing

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The association of irregular sleep schedules with circadian timing and academic performance has not been systematically examined. We studied 61 undergraduates for 30 days using sleep diaries, and quantified sleep regularity using a novel metric, the ...

A regularity index for dendrites

open access: yes, 2018
Neurons collect their inputs from other neurons by sending out arborized dendritic structures. However, the relationship between the shape of dendrites and the precise organization of synaptic inputs in the neural tissue remains unclear. Inputs could be distributed in tight clusters, entirely randomly or else in a regular grid-like manner.

The combinatorially regular polyhedra of index 2

open access: yesAequationes Mathematicae, 1987
By a combinatorially regular polyhedron of index two the author understands a polyhedral realization (self-intersections allowed) in \(E^ 3\) of a regular map such that the (metrical) symmetry group is a subgroup of index 2 of the (combinatorial) automorphism group.

The duality index of oriented regular hypermaps

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 2011
A \textit{hypermap} is a representation of a hypergraph in a closed connected surface; a generalization of the concept of a topological map. The aim of this paper is to develop a measure of how far a hypermap is from being self-dual. This is done by understanding a hypermap algebraically as a transitive permutation representation on the set of its ...

Association of Rest‐Activity Rhythm and Sleep Regularity With Cardiometabolic Disease in the CARDIA Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Disrupted circadian rhythms are associated with cardiometabolic disease. We examined associations between rest‐activity rhythms and cardiometabolic disease by race.

On Unambiguous Regular Tree Languages of Index (0,2)

open access: yes, 2015
Unambiguous automata are usually seen as a natural class of automata in-between deterministic and nondeterministic ones. We show that in case of infinite tree languages, the unambiguous ones are topologically far more complicated than the deterministic ones.

Translational Regular Variability and the Index Function

open access: yesAxioms
This paper deals with translational regular and rapid variations. By using a new method of proving the Galambos–Bojanić-Seneta type theorems, we prove two theorems of this type for translationally regularly varying and translationally rapidly varying functions and sequences, important objects in the asymptotic analysis of divergent processes.
