Ground Motion Model for Spectral Displacement of Intermediate-Depth Earthquakes Generated by Vrancea Seismic Source

open access: yesGeosciences, 2020
In support of displacement-based design (DBD), an attenuation model for the prediction of the spectral displacement of intermediate-depth earthquakes generated by Vrancea source is proposed.

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Optimum reinforcement design of concrete cross‐sections considering deformation constraints

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2005
The paper concerns the optimum reinforcement design for r/c cross‐sections through the simultaneous consideration of multiple load cases. The problem is solved by methods of non‐linear mathematical programming.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Comparative analysis of analytical and experimental results of the strength of compressed reinforced concrete columns under special combinations of loads

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
The article presents a comparison of results of experimental and analytical calculations of the strength of the central and eccentrically compressed concrete elements working in the conditions of dynamic loads under fire exposure.

Properties and performance of high strength fibre reinforced concrete by using steel and polypropylene fibres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Many reinforced concrete structures suffer severe degradation due to the effect from freezing and thawing, shrinkage and expansion, aggressive environment, earthquake and drastic increase of live loads.

X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...

The effect of masonry infill walls on the reinforced concrete frames behavior under lateral load [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The reinforced concrete structures with masonry infill walls are widely used to construct buildings in Algeria, as in many parts of the world. According to earthquake analysis, this type of construction can undergo serious damage under seismic load.
