Design of reinforced concrete beams
1996Reinforced concrete beam design consists primarily of producing member details which will adequately resist the ultimate bending moments, shear forces and torsional moments. At the same time serviceability requirements must be considered to ensure that the member will behave satisfactorily under working loads.

Flexural Deformability of Reinforced Concrete Beams
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1998In reinforced concrete beams, the sectional definition of the moment-curvature relationship is not straightforward owing to the presence of cracks. In general, this problem has been solved by considering a representative portion of the beam and by defining the curvature 1/\ir as the ratio between the rotation of the portion considered and its length ...

Damage modelling of reinforced concrete beams
Advances in Engineering Software, 2007Analysis of reinforced concrete building floor frames can be significantly improved when appropriate material models are assumed to represent the actual global behaviour and consequently to improve the ultimate and serviceability limit state verifications.

Concrete Beams with Prestressed Reinforcement
Journal of the Structural Division, 1970Tests on six rectangular beams reinforced with variable amounts of deformed steel bars and precast prestressed concrete prisms are reported. Methods are suggested for computing the moment causing cracking of the in situ concrete and that causing cracking of the prestressed reinforcement.

Reinforced concrete repairs in beams
Construction and Building Materials, 1999Abstract The effectiveness of reinforced concrete repairs may be established in terms of their ability to restore the structural integrity of the reinforced concrete element and to protect the reinforcement from severe weathering conditions. Therefore, 18 large scale reinforced concrete beams were cast and subject to an accelerated corrosion ...

Although the geometry of the influence of the load on a beam is identical irrespective of material there is a fundamental difference in the way that a reinforced concrete beam produces the resistance moment. Within very small limits, a plain concrete beam would behave like any other elastic material.

Repaired Reinforced Concrete Beams
ACI Materials Journal, 1990The repair of cracks is a necessity, and a comparison between repair methods for reinforced concrete beams subjected to different levels of cracking was made experimentally. Four methods of repair were studied: epoxy injection; ferrocement; steel-plate bonding; and combined method of epoxy injection and ferrocement.

Shear in reinforced concrete beams
Magazine of Concrete Research, 1969Synopsis Generally acceptable compatibility and ultimate strength precepts are used in this paper to establish a physical theory of shear in reinforced concrete. Account is taken of the shear resistances of both un cracked concrete and shear reinforcement.
