Nonlinear finite element analysis of reinforced concrete corbel

Computers & Structures, 1993
Reinforced concrete corbels have been analysed using the nonlinear finite element method. An elasto-plastic-cracking constitutive formulation using Huber-Hencky-Mises yield surface augmented with a tension cut-off is employed. Smeared-fixed cracking with mesh-dependent strain softening is employed to obtain objective results.

Analysis of unsymmetrical reinforced concrete double corbels

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020
Unsymmetrical reinforced concrete double corbels have different shear spans (a) in each side. ACI 318-14 provisions allow the structural analysis and design of double corbels through either shear friction (SF) method or the Strut-and-Tie modeling (STM). The current study presents analysis procedure using both SF and STM.

Residual behavior of reinforced concrete corbels after exposure to elevated temperatures

Structural Concrete, 2023
Many precast concrete structures make use of corbels, which are small cantilevers that transfer eccentric point loads to columns or walls. When such structures experience a fire event, the residual strength of their corbels may need to be evaluated. This

Behavior of reinforced concrete corbels

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2009
Test results of thirteen reinforced concrete corbels with shear span-to-depth ratio greater than unity are reported. The main variables studied were compressive strength of concrete, shear span-todepth ratio and parameter of vertical stirrups. The test results indicate that the shear strengths of corbels increase with an increase in compressive ...

Repairing of short reinforced concrete corbel by bonding composite material under continuous load

Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Fracture Mechanics of Concrete and Concrete Structures, 2019
This paper presents an experimental study of repairing of short reinforced concrete corbel by bonding composite material under continued load. The short reinforced concrete corbel usually is used in Civil Engineering and in Building Construction as ...

Influence of anchorage length of composite fabrics and bonded surface on the strengthened short reinforced concrete corbel by bonding CFRF

European Journal of Environmental and Civil Engineering, 2018
This article presents an experimental study of the mechanical behavior of strengthened short reinforced concrete (RC) corbel by externally glued Carbon Fibre Reinforced Fabrics (CFRF). Six reinforced concrete corbels were fabricated.

The Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Corbels

PCI Journal, 1976
An experimental study is reported of the behavior of reinforced concrete corbels subjected to both vertical and horizontal loads. Twenty-eight corbel specimens were tested, of which twenty-six contained horizontal stirrup reinforcement. The variables included in the study were the shear span to effective depth ratio, the ratio of the vertical load to ...

Shear strength of reinforced concrete corbels

Magazine of Concrete Research, 2009
In this study, 15 reinforced concrete corbels with shear span-to-depth ratio greater than unity were tested. Test results indicate that the shear strength of corbels increases with increase in compressive strength of concrete, parameter of main reinforcement and parameter of vertical stirrups. The shear strength of corbels also increases with decrease

MODELING CONFINED ZONE EFFECT IN REINFORCED CONCRETE CORBEL STRENGTHENED BY CFRP

Journal of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy
Confined zone effect, which is primarily observed in reinforced concrete (RC) columns subjected to compression, is crucial for the load-bearing capacity of (RC) structures. This occurs when, despite an increase in the load, the resulting deformations are
